Dropping frames doing export

Hi,

I am experiencing dropped frames on my latest project, It happens doing the middle of the clip and lasts to the end of the film. I only have two clips on my timeline (both previously exported in Resolve, for simplicity as all i had to do was cut out a scene and replace it.) The first time i tried to export the product, i had used the built in pattern generators, and some audio and text. Failed with dropped frames. I have tried it on a desktop, rendering both the final product and sourcing the original clips from a 1TB seagate hard drive. (i7 3770, GTX745).

But separating the two clips and exporting them separately, it passed with no dropped frames and both look fine.

The second time, i just combined both previously exported clips with a simple fade between the two. It still failed with dropped frames. The computer i used was a laptop (i5 7200u, GTX940MX). With the source material and the export being saved/loaded from a 256GB SSD.

Could my source material be the cause of this? (all 50FPS)

Hi. I’m experiencing the exact same issue: 2 short videos in 4K, 60fps, HEVC added one after the other in a 30fps timeline. When exported in mp4, h.264 I’m getting a very jerky video with a lot of dropped frames. And I can’t figure out if this coming from my settings.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Also, is there anyway to export in h.265 with the free version?

Dropped frames during an export doesn't make any sense to me. The software should always be waiting for the frame. Real time playback isn't needed here.

My best guess is there's a bug in the software.

Throttle down the render speed.

That puzzles me about Resolve too. Even if it takes an hour to process a frame, it should still process it.

And after having found glitches (both audio and video) in final renders in some earlier versions of 16 I remain very wary of every render and have to spend time watching each one from beginning to end. That's very time consuming as many of my timelines are quite long and boring (people talking on stage).

So far I haven't had any in 16.1.2, but it's going to take me quite a while to regain any confidence in it.

Sounds like the experience of those people with the older MacPro (aka trashcan) finally arrived on PCs too: overheating GPUs.

I think i am running 15.3, Would lowering the rendering speed to 25FPS affect the video itself (the exported video)?

No. It just slows down the speed the file is created.

Do you know how to change the rendering framerate?

You do that here.

I know it's an old post but I still and constantly have some issues with that.
I have Resolve Studio 16.2.8 working on Ryzen 3900x, and Radeon 5600XT with 20.4.2 drivers under Windows 10. Previously I had 2700x with RX580 with same software and exactly the same problems. I work mostly with 1440p timeline and exporting to the same resolution

In almost every single render I have some dropped frames or(and) some artifacts. I tried different drivers and all the older versions of DR and it was all the same. Except DR 15 which was working well but slower. Also different encoding do not change much as well as the footage codecs. Tried exporting to h264, 265, also DNxHR with different settings, and there's usually less problems with DNxHR but it's not guaranteed. I still have to watch carefully each clip and in most cases export it a few times to get smooth footage.

I also tried to slow down the render speed even to 75,50 and even 25 and it helped... a bit. But yes, still have some issues but it looks like less than usual.
The problem is really annoying. Anyone have any ideas?

ps. HWinfo gives me the GPU driver version Driver Version: 26.20.15029.27017 which looks like one coming from microsoft but I tried a few drivers with same or worst resutls
