Seems solved: Neat Video 5.2.1 crashing Resolve

PostSat Feb 22, 2020 2:29 am

Neat Video 5.2.1, Resolve 16.1.1, Mac OS 10.14.6, iMac Pro, 128gb RAM, Radeon Pro Vega 64 gpu

I'm working on restoring a super-8 film transfered to dvd. The project is NTSC, 29.97. I auto-profile a clip, adjust noise settings, hit apply and returning from the NV interface to the color page, Resolve quits.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Version 5.2.1 works fine here under MacOS 10.14.6.

Did you read about this known issue, in case you are working with interlaced footage?

"DaVinci Resolve 16 has a bug that causes a crash when a plug-in of a certain class (plug-ins doing temporal processing, Neat Video is one of those) is used and the "Video field processing" option is enabled in project settings.

A solution is to disable the "Video field processing" option in project settings and instead set the scan type to "Interlaced" (if you work with interlaced video) in Neat Video itself."
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Thank you, Uli. This might just be it. I’ll give it a try.

Thank you, Uli! A quick one-clip test seems to show your suggestion was the solution.

For a long time I've wanted to thank certain contributors to this forum who take the time to share their experience. So, thank you.... :-)

It is very helpful to check the "known issues" section from developers who care to document these.
Vlad does it well, and another very good example is Boris FX.
