can't delete LUT from clip

I'm new to Resolve hence asking a lot of questions while getting my feet wet. I'm on 15.3.1 and keep getting the same odd occurance. I'm doing color tests trying to match different cameras both using Slog3, so I'm experimenting a bit with different settings and LUTs.
What keeps screwing me up is that every now and then a shot will seem to show a double LUT being applied. I haven't figured out any sequence of events that creates this. If I try to remove the LUTs by going into each node and hitting NO LUT the shot remains obviously affected by a LUT but I can't figure out where its coming from and I can't delete it.

Well I figured out that I was somehow applying the LUT to the original clip in the media browser instead of just the copy on the timeline. That means every use of the Clip in a timeline has the the LUT applied even though it doesn't show up when Right clicked. If I hit NO LUT on the original clip in the media browser, then it goes away in the timeline and I no longer have double LUTs. But I have no idea why this keeps happening to me . Any ideas?
