Power Bins content replaced by different folders

PostMon Mar 09, 2020 9:17 am

Hi everyone!

Can anybody help in my issue?

I made my own Power Bins with some music, pictures etc.

Once a week all content in Power Bins disappear, it's replaced by Davinci folder - C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve (see in attachment).

Is this a bug or feature?

I got it for third time, I can't use it anymore (

* Davinci Resolve 16.1.2.026.
* Local database.
* Music in different location, different hard drives.

Is your power bin drive permanently attached and listed in resolve preferences?
Is that drive the top drive in preferences
Is that drive listed in your default project settings?

Maybe this is what happened to my transition templates I had in power bins after 16. 2 install.

I lost a lot of custom transitions I made or downloaded.

I'm having the same problem since I started using Davinci, after some time all the folders contained in my power bin just disappeared and I see coming out of nowhere these empty davinci folders (see the picture).

I noticed that it happens ALWAYS after two moths more or less and it happens just to the powerbins that have sub folders infact the other power bins stay intact.

Now my problem is that I had two days of clip selection that were contained in that disappeared power bin,
is there a way to reload an old version of the power bin database so that I can get somehow that selection?

any help would be more than appreciated

Same problem. Had my B-Roll library loaded up in a Power Bin, but it keeps disappearing and replacing it with those useless folders.

This problem is still existing in 17.

I did everything Peter suggested. Still no dice. Power bins are not reliable, so I have to import my 10TB of b-roll into every project to be able to use the Cut Page features for fast scrubbing and placement. It makes each project huge, but that's what I'll have to do for now until Power Bins become more reliable.

so the power bins have no location on the drive that they can be re-imported from?

Sadly lost a ton of assets for my videos after buying and installing the Studio version. :cry:

As a safeguard, create a project, create folders which mirror the power bins, then copy all the corresponding powerbin clips (select all) into their respective folders. If the bins disappear, open the project and drag the folders into the powerbin.

Of course, if you revise the powerbins constantly, you have to revise the project as well. But easier than starting over.

I have experienced this, well still do, but I have found a way for power bins to work as long as I don't open them as a new/separate window. It's not rocket science really. I noticed that I was having issues with all the power bins that I had just dragged and dropped (main folder with subfolders) inside the master power bin. However, I wasn't experiencing issues with those that I had first created a new bin inside the power bin master, then named the folder and finally dragged and dopped the subfolders in. So there you go, this works for me. I recreated all the folders that way and they all load up well and I never get the folders replaced by the random folders people mentioned in the posts here.

However, if I choose to open the power bin as a separate/new window, all hell breaks loose. So it's not perfect, but as long as I keep it at the bottom left and browse it that way, no problems at all. I hope this is helpful to someone reading and what works for mw also works for you.

I had this issue, too. I'm assuming it's because I had moved my assets around. Lost about 2 days of work that way.

Now having an issue where it seems the power bin is full. 2 days into sorting assets, only about a quarter done but now I can't add anything new. Nothing about limits in the manual so it's probably yet another bug.

Well SOAB. 2 days in and now Resolve decided to start replacing my power bin folders with the OP's listed folders. Everything stored in internal drives, nothing moved.

Simply unreliable.
