Dropped frame on export with Resolve 16

PostThu Mar 26, 2020 8:37 pm

Hi, new to Resolve and the forums! I've been working on rendering some videos and I keep having issues with a 'dropped frame number #####' error. (It's always a different number and the referenced frame never has any issues) I have NO issues with playback or editing, this is just during the render. This causes the render job to fail, at which point I have to kill Resolve in task manager otherwise it won't restart. I am experience this about 80% of the time, and if I re-render the video again EVENTUALLY it will go through...

Divinci Resolve 16.2.0.055
Ryzen 7 1700X
AMD 5700xt
16GB RAM
NVME SSD drive

Source footage:
10-15min 30fps @ 3840x2160 (.mp4)
Applying resize, crop, trim, and small color adjustments
Rendering out to .mp4 (issue persists with quicktime too)
Rendering using h.264 @1080p HD

During renders, GPU and drive utilization are below 20%, CPU is at 100% on all 8 cores/16 threads. Memory limit is set to max (12GB) in preferences, and 'stop render when frame or clip cannot be processed' is not checked.

Where is the setting to change that? I tried looking it up but it seems most people are trying to optimise their CPU/GPU to render more quickly, not give the program a handicap and slow it down LOL.

Also, is this the render frame rate? Mine sits right around 60, then drops to and stays at zero if I get a frame drop error.

Thanks! I was using YouTube section, which doesn't have those options. I guess if you want to use a custom render speed you will have to upload it separately?

Yes. You should upload better quality anyway, since YT is re-compressing.
