weird performance quirk in 16.2

PostMon Mar 30, 2020 12:15 pm

getting very poor playback result (lots of dropped frames). I discovered by pure chance that if I put a disabled track (or solid color) on top of the active clips then it works fine...see below. So until further notice I have added a 'top' track with a disabled solid color and performance is once again smooth. Hope you guys can work out whats causing this weird effect...

You're using Build 55?
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

You should also update your signature to show the correct version that you are using.
Microsoft Windows 11 Home x64
Version 23H2 build 22631.3447
Lenovo Legion Y545
32GB RAM
GTX 1660Ti
Driver version 551.86

Yes, using build 55. If dummy track is disabled using the selector icon (middle icon) then the fix doesn't work i.e playback is very jerky. If the dummy track is enabled with the icon but disabled (D) the playback is smooth and as normal.

Should be quite simple to recreate and fix

Well, you're the only person I've seen report this so far. I also haven't seen this on either oy my two systems.

So it may not be that easy to recreate.
