Issues 16.2 Linux vs Mac vs Win10 ?

Hi BMD,

Can you shed any light on the rate of bugs / problems with 16.2 on the various platforms?
From reading the posts it seems to me that there are more reports of problems with 16.2 on Windows 10 less on Mac and even less on Linux?

I think it would be helpful if all posters preceded the title of their post with the platform e.g. [Win] or [Mac] or [Linux], or [All] if a general question.
It would be easy then for us users to see which platform has the most issues, and also it would save someone who uses one platform the time of opening a post about a different platform.

You may find that that's simply because the number of users on those platforms is equally scaled (ie: more Win10 users than Apple users than Linux users).

I think also the Linux years tend to use a very stripped down "stock" system with very little going on, plus the right drivers. Sometimes, the Resolve problems happen because of other installed programs or OS issues, not because of Resolve itself.

For a lot of reasons, we try to use a very "stock" Mac OS system with absolutely nothing running in the background, so it effectively becomes a "Resolve machine" only during sessions. I think there's value in keeping the system very lean and mean, because it's one less thing to go wrong.

You could be onto something there, my DR machine is dedicated to video editing and I have a separate Linux box for all my other apps and general internet access. This has made DR (15) totally bullet-proof for me.

completely agree with marc - my win 10 edit box is simply that, dedicated to resolve, along with an old version of ps cs6 for quick graphic / stills patch ups. been rock solid since resolve 14.

that said, i'm not pushing any envelopes, or bleeding to death on cutting edge technology ;-)

That's been my advice for years. One should have a dedicated editing system without email, office, gaming or other extraneous software installed.
