How to turn off playback while recording in Fairlight?

PostFri Apr 10, 2020 7:51 pm

Howdy,

I've begun using fairlight to record Voice over.

Problem is when it's armed... I can hear my own voice in the speakers AS I'm recording.

How do I put a stop to this?

I could just turn off my speakers but that seems silly.

IS there a better way?

Fairlight menu > Input Monitor Style

In Input mode, only the Input is being monitored, and not the Track output
(i.e. what is currently or what has previously been recorded).

In Auto mode, while the Audio Track is armed the Input is monitored, while on playback the Track output is monitored.

In Record mode, the Input is only monitored when the Record button has been activated.

In Repro mode, the Track output is monitored, and the Input signal is muted.

Mute will mute the Track while in Record, else behaves like Repro.

Several available methods including using the Fairlight Monitoring panel's Mute button (speaker icon) or muting the Master Buss currently monitored.
⟦ Mac Pro 7,1 Rack ⊕ 16-core 3.2GHz ⊕ 32GB RAM ⊕ Radeon 580X • Resolve Studio 19.0 • macOS 14.4.1 ⟧
⟦ Fairlight Studio Console ⊕ Fairlight Audio Accelerator ⊕ Merging Hapi • Anubis • Ravenna CoreAudio VAD ⟧

Are there ways to do it automatically? I saw the feature in Nero Video - automatic mute whole entire timeline while voice recording.
