Changing defaults for OpenFX or ability to copy/paste

PostThu Apr 16, 2020 6:51 pm

Scenario:
I have plenty of "picture in picture" videos and stills. All should use the same drop shadow. I'm using the OpenFX Drop Shadow, but I modified the drop shadow settings from the defaults.
How can I efficiently apply the same drop shadow settings to all clips on one track in one go?

Apparently, every time I drag it over (be it from Favorites or from the Effects library) it uses the default settings. I also tried applying the drop shadow FX to one clip first, dragging it to favorites after, and then dragging it from favorites to the other clips. It returns to the default settings.
How can I change the defaults for OpenFXs such as Drop Shadow?
(either globally or for favorites)

Alternatively, I had hoped to be able to bulk edit them (as I could with Transform etc.). But the OpenFX tab in inspector disappears when selecting multiple clips (even if all the clips have the same OpenFXs attached).

A third option I thought should be possible was to copy and paste OpenFX with settings. Alas, in the Paste attributes ... window, there is no way to paste OpenFXs.

So I'm at a loss now what else to try.

Any advice how to accomplish this highly appreciated!

You can paste OpenFX settings, it's under Paste Attributes, Plugins.

The ability to change the defaults would be a nice option.

Effect Presets would cover that.

Does that depend on the effect itself providing a method for creating presets? The phrase "effect(s) preset" doesn't appear in the reference manual. I found this thread: https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=116368
The limiter effect appears to be able to save a preset but the grid effect, which is what I want to use, doesn't have a settings window. Is there another way?

Effect Presets currently aren't an option. :( I was just suggesting that it would cover this need, as well as others.
