Export will always default to the Timeline name, not the Project name. As we can have multiple timelines in one project, this makes sense.

You can name your Timeline the same as your project, though.

You do have to set a Location, but only once per project. (Unless, of course, you want to export to more than one location.)
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I dont think you answered the question.
Its the default render path that he / we want to set, not an export location.
Is there somewhere in prefs to set a defaut render path.
I have a ssd raid that I was to default to.

That's the same thing. So...I'm confused.

It's simple. he was asking for a way to assign a default Location on the Deliver page. I also want to know it

The render path and the export location are the same, and it has to be set at least once in the project.

I don't understand what do you mean but I think you are wrong. You can choose a specific folder to be your default export location for every time you create a new project. I do that and helps a lot because I always export things to the same specific folder and therefore I don't need to set it up every single time

Open a new project

Set the project settings, cache and proxy folders as you generally need

Create a new Timeline

Drag and drop a generator in the timeline

Go to the export page and input the settings that you want as default included tha name and location.

Export and render the timeline

Open the project settings and go to the preset page

Click Save as, give it a name and save your preset.

Right click on your newly created preset and click "Save as user Default Config"

Every next project you generate should retain the codec, format, encoder, resolution, bitrate, name and location of this preset in the export page

its 2023 and still no default render location or the ability to store the location as part of the preset. I'd appreciate this simple quality of life improvement in the next update. thanks.

have to agree here, saving as part of the preset should be pretty simple, same with a basic default

That would be a bad idea. It would limit the preset's usefulness.

I followed Calai222's instructions. Presets like video encoder or resolution are saved, but not the default render location
Yes it's such a shame that a basic function like that isn't more simple

That's nice. What's being requested here won't impact your workflow at all then, but will be very beneficial for those people who do have a workflow with a default render location.

BUMP, weighing in here. Davinci always defaults to my E: drive when exporting(deliver) a video in a new project. I NEVER want to use that drive and yet I have to change it every single time I start a new project. It is infuriating. Yes, once it is set it will remember that location, but only for that project. If I save an export preset in the correct location, it "forgets" that location as soon as I open a new project (although remembers everything else perfectly).
