Feature Request: 3D scopes

PostThu Apr 30, 2020 7:13 pm

Back in the day, Silicon Color / Apple Color had an amazing 3D vector scope. It let you simultaneously see hue/sat/luminance as a sort of 3D point cloud of pixels, laid out like an interactive 3D LUT cube.

10 years on, I still miss that tool.

These guys have made some similar, and even better 3D (i.e. 3D Parades) scope tools.

It would be amazing to have more capable scopes for Resolve one day.

Hi Blase,

we have just released "Photon" a 3D LUT Editor / Colorgrading Tool that connects to DaVinci Resolve via OpenFX Plugin.

Photon displays the image colors in fully interactive 3D visualization. I'm avoiding the term "scope" as I would not go so far as to call the visualization a full-blown monitoring tool. Our main goal is to develop a different approach to creative look editing with the capability to smooth out artifacts and edit existing LUTs. It might still be worth a look :)

Let me know what you think. We might be able to add the features that fit your use case.

Best, Pirmin
