Red Nodes in Fusion Tab inside of Resolve? (Solved)

PostMon May 11, 2020 5:41 pm

Hi!

I created a couple of projects with the Fusion engine found inside of DaVinci Resolve v.15. I wanted to go back to them, but they don’t play correctly in Resolve version 16.2.1 due to some of the nodes showing in red. Is there an easy way to fix this?

Thanks!

Can you post screenshots of this happening and maybe provide more detail about the projects and Fusion comps?

It looks like you have several image files, like Glossiness and JC_Logo that might be missing from the projects media pool or might have been moved from the original source folder.

I have them all in a project folder, which I manually create for each project. So how do I relink them?

Do you see them in the Media Pool of your opened project? If they are there but red, you can right-click them and choose Relink Selected Clips. If they are totally missing from the Media Pool, you will have to find them on your system and add them to the Media Pool.

If you see red nodes, the first thing to do is open the Console.
You see the yellow triangle in the lower right corner of your screen?
That's the hint, that something is wrong.
Click it to open the Console and see what's wrong.

You can also find it at Workspace -> Console

OK. I see the problem.

The Media Pool does show missing files, so the thumbnails are red. I swore I saved everything in the project folder, but that is not the case. Some files are indeed missing. I will need to search for them on my back up drive.

Thanks for your time! At least now I know how to fix the issue. I’ll post back once it’s fixed, or if I need additional help.

Take care!

Yeah, I noticed that. There’s a bunch of error messages there. However it would give me those even when the projects played back correctly back in version 15, so I kinda ignored them :-P.

But the real issue are the missing files. I need to dig for them and then I’ll report back.

Thank you!

Problem solved!!

After relinking the missing files, the projects play perfectly.

Re: Red Nodes in Fusion Tab inside of Resolve? (SOLVED)

The problem with red nodes for me involved a project downloaded for video training. The Text+ nodes were calling for a font that was not on my system, so the nodes turned red from left to right and a black screen was output to the output node and the Edit page. Once I manually went in and selected a new font in the first text node, the issue disappeared. It would be great if Resolve automatically switched fonts when faced with this issue, instead of defaulting to a black screen that gives no hint as to the real problem.

Agreed - what would be even better is if we updated the font in one fusion comp and DaVinci automatically updated the rest of them that used the same font.

Having to manually update every single fusion comp with the same information is very time consuming and hard on the old right click left click muscles.

Thank you julian_b, by going to the Console I have found what was my issue.
