Exported SRT subtitles offset?

PostSun May 17, 2020 3:06 pm

I have subtitles correctly aligned with the video track in Resolve like so:
subtitlesSC.jpg
subtitlesSC.jpg (49.12 KiB) Viewed 1696 times

However, when I export this to an SRT file, the timing comes out offset:
Code: Select all
1
01:00:03,599 --> 01:00:06,869
Aaaaaameeeeen...

2
01:00:07,670 --> 01:00:11,441
Aaaaaameeeeen...

3
01:00:13,042 --> 01:00:16,312
Aaaaaameeeeen...

4
01:00:18,181 --> 01:00:21,451
Aaaaaameeeeen...

5
01:00:23,720 --> 01:00:26,723
I've got it!

6
01:00:28,191 --> 01:00:35,198
AaaaAAaaaaAaaaaAAAaaaa

7
01:00:35,965 --> 01:00:42,372
AaaaAAaaaaAaaaaAAAaaaa

In the original, the first line begins at 0 seconds, but in the export it starts 3 seconds later. If I slide the subtitles along to a different timing, the exported SRT does change, but the offset remains the same.
This does not affect all my projects, but it does affect more than just one. Any idea what is causing this?

After installing the latest version of Resolve (16.2.2), the issue seemed to fix itself.

I had a massive 40min all dialogue subtitle done w/ the latest Resolve version (so far, with that anoying text lag happening each 5 minutes) and the same thing happened to me on exporting the .srt
Timeline is at 23.976fps and it says it exported the .srt that way.. but that amazing offset was there.

the workaround: i've used SubtitleEdit to simply convert the .srt from 24fps to 23.976fps
and it worked like a charm.

I think that Resolve is exporting the .srt in different fps than the timeline.
In my case, it was indeed exporting in 24fps (although the .srt said it was 23.976fps!)

It worked for me.

This might be a recurring bug. I'm using the free version 17.3.1 Build 5 and I have the same problem, also with 3.599 seconds of delay in the exported file. Timeline is 1920x1080 at 23.976 fps.

For the record, first subtitle entry starts at 01:00:00:19 in Resolve, which then goes to 01:00:04,392 in the exported SRT. Note that at 23.976 fps, 19 frames is approximately 0.79245 seconds, and 4.392-0.79245 is 3.59955.

I have the studio version in a different computer, but I won't have access to it for a few days. I'll give it a try, though.

I have the same problem with Resolve Studio 17.2.2 on 23.976 fps project.

On 24 fps projects, everything is accurate !
