Video too small

PostMon Jun 15, 2020 9:09 pm

Hi guys, I have grabbed videos with my Iphone 10 and for the first time I have edited with Da Vinci Resolve 16.
At the begin I couldnt see the videos so I had to converted them with Shutter Encoder to DNxHD.
At the end I got what I was loooking for but, the proportions are not ok, I mean, I have uploaded the video on dropbox and I have sent them by gmail, in both cases if I open them by laptop is ok, but if by mobile they are super small.
I have rendered with
1920 x 1080 HD
Frame rate 30

I wanted to post a dropbox url but I cant..

Thank you very much

Please refer to viewtopic.php?f=21&t=90190 to find out what detail would help in a report - your Resolve version, system hardware, OS version, codec etc.

Under Logs, you can find this hint if you're not able to post URLs:
If you are unable to post a link, put a space in the path so the forum doesn't think its a link, eg. my logsarehere. com

If you feel that screenshots/pictures would help illustrate the difference between observation and expectation, please include some.

Lastly, do look up "Input mismatch" in the DaVinci Resolve manual (from the help menu) - in case the resolutions between your timeline and your clips aren't the same.

Cell phones aren't good options for filmmaking.

That's not the point here, Jim, he has converted them first.

I suppose the resolution of the cellphone you are looking at is higher than HD. Can you find out what it is?
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Mirco,

Your issue is related to mismatched resolutions. In other words, you started with a vertical 1080x1920 video. you added it to a horizontal 1920x1080 timeline. Based on your timeline settings, this resizes the video to occupy the middle 607x1080 strip and introduce black bars on the sides.

Make a new timeline, Custom Settings, Resolution = 1080x1920 and copy over contents from your previous timeline. You may need to adjust timeline settings (especially input resolution mismatch) to get the required results.

Regards
Shrinivas
