75fps On BMPCC4k and 23.976 TL Question

Hello All

I was helping my wife film the "birth" of a Monarch butterfly and I setup my BMPCC4k to shoot at 4k 75fps/23.976 (BRAW Q5) and I am stumped by what to set my project at.

My initial try was a Project of 4096 × 2160 and a TL of 24. It came in letter boxed (correct)
  1. Do I need to tell DR in the file properties it is a 75fps file? so it is converted to 23.976?
  2. OR is that conversion automatic?
  3. Is it really 1.5 hours or 1.5 hours slowed down from 75 to 23.976? (If I had a TL of 75 would it really be 30min?)
  4. MediaInfo (below) shows it to be 1.5hrs at 23.976...

THANK YOU
Marc

Use DCI Scope 2.39 for Timeline Resolution and 23.976 for Timeline Frame Rate. The footage will be slow motion by default.

Hi Jim
This is the beginners version that we did... Our 1st time lapse and high speed short home video...

ALL 4k & Parts were filmed with:
--BMPCC4K at 75fps
--Sony A7R3 using timelapse every 5 seconds
--iPhone 11 Pro Max at 60fps (outside scenes)

All on 23.976 TL with output set at 1080p

Hoping the next round we will improve...

Pretty cool. But...did I miss the slow motion scenes? And what happened to the 4K Scope?

Ahhh! Well... my wife wanted to keep the whole video at 5 min for facebook... so that led to some extreme high speed segments and some slow mo. The only final slow mo areas are when the Queen fell and at the end when she takes the butterfly's from the scene plus the outside parts. Those are 75/60 fps on 23.976.

The "births" took nearly an hour each...

I/we are not sure how to film the next time. (Normally I would film 24/30 or 75 and have a normal speed video w slow parts (very short) but for this project the total runtime was 3.7 hours.)

Hi Jim

I missed your Q on the 4k scope... in the end I decided to frame it out better so I placed it on a std 16x9 final TL.

I suppose we/I would welcome any suggestions from everyone :D :D
