Noise Workarounds

PostThu Jul 02, 2020 11:24 am

1. Is there a way to avoid including the noise in qualifications?
2. How to add Sharpening/Midtone Detail without accentuating noise?

(Usually noise reduction is taxing on my system, so im looking for alternative workarounds to add detail without worsening the noise)

There are two plugins i personally use that i think are great for resolve. The first one is a noise reduction one that is called Neat video. it allows you to do noise masks so you can denoise what you want on the frame. The second one is a sharpening plugin that also allows you to make masks, its called Samurai sharpen.

Did you compare with Neatvideo's own sharpening?
IMHO, it's doing a pretty good job, maybe based on 'knowing' what's noise.

No, I do not have noisy video but the problem is that when i add midtone detail, noise is accentuated and becomes visible.

Are there no ways to avoid the noise when adding midtone detail?

Any kind of contrast enhancement, even for certain tonal values only, will make noise more visible too.
