Hide the menu bar that shows up on fullscreen preview?

PostSun Aug 02, 2020 4:45 pm

Hi,

Just wondering if there is a way to hide the menu bar (volume, play, minimise buttons) that shows up on full screen preview in the edit tab?

Thanks

Bump.

Is there no way of getting rid of that menu bar/playback indicator? It is really obtrusive.

Don't move your mouse on the screen showing the preview and it won't appear

Thanks for the suggestion. The thing is that it is not a very practical solution. The slightest mouse movement will bring up the playback bar, and having my right hand on the mouse the most of the time, the mouse will move now and again. I wish BM would put in an option for OSD on/off.

I would also love to know if there is any other way.
Waiting 5 seconds after moving the mouse is not ideal.

Bumping this up. For those of us who primarily use keyboard shortcuts, i.e. professionals, no need for the play bar. Please give us a way to turn it off.

In the 18.5 beta, the playback bar no longer comes up by default when entering Cinema View. You have to call it up manually by moving the mouse.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

I don't know about Cinema mode, as I prefer to use full screen, but what you describe has been the standard behavior for a while (in full screen mode).

This thread calls for an option to disable the playback bar (the OSD), as it is nothing but a visual annoyance to some – is anyone actually using the playback bar? – when accidentally moving the mouse while in full screen mode.

What's the difference? (There's a LOT about Resolve I still don't know.)

I also would love an option to hide it ( or reduce the fade out time ).

Unpopular opinion: what if you just got a Blackmagic display adapter (like a Decklink or UltraStudio) and watched the full-screen playback on that? That has no on-screen readouts at all.

Appreciate the input, but are you seriously recommending that I buy a 250 dollar device just to be rid of OSD?

That would demand a second monitor, right?

Yes, and the Studio version of Resolve.
By the way, the full screen preview is the Cinema Viewer.

In 18.5 the playback bar no longer comes up by default when entering Cinema Viewer.

You had me get my hopes up for a second there. I don't recall the playback bar showing up by default at any point when entering cinema viewer/fulls screen, but it does still show whenever you your mouse. Sigh.

Well, yeah. The presumption is that you're moving the mouse so you can scrub through.

If you're not going to do that, don't move the mouse. ;)

I don't expect that will ever change, so...get used to it guys.

Yes. I think I literally paid $75 for a used Mini-Monitor the day I bought my first Resolve dongle about 12-13 years ago. The much bigger expense was a calibrated display, which was thousands of dollars.

My suggestion does work: you get a Mini-Monitor (or a Decklink), and now you have a color-managed Timeline Viewer that has no readouts on it. Consider it the price you pay for an extra feature.

Thanks, but even if I could get a used decklink mini monitor 4k for around 100 USD, it's a bit steep for such a basic feature, considering I paid around 300 USD for the entire program.

I've been searching the feature requests, and haven't been able to find one on this, so maybe I'll give that a shot.
