I would be happy to, but there is no attachment. Better you should put the required files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files. Below is the standard spiel:

In a File Explorer window, go to:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve

and run CaptureLogs

This will place a Resolve log file named similar to this on your Windows desktop: DaVinci-Resolve-logs-20181228_140434.zip (You may not see the .zip extension if your system is set to hide known extensions).

Then open Windows System Information and do a File - Save (Not a File Export), which will generate a .NFO file.

Place both those files on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

If you are a new Forum user, you may not be allowed to post URLs. If this happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the system doesn't think it's a URL.

That’s odd Dwaine, because after clicking past all the tree planting adverts, I found there were 2 zipped log files to download.

Well John, when I looked at the message, there were no links to click. And now the message itself appears to be gone.

Hi Dwaine.
I'm not very good with computers-specially with PC and Windows. Are both files I posted unusable?
How can I create URLs files that you ask for?
This error message appears every time I try to open DaVinci Resolve. I made a screen dump.

We solved the problem now. I opened Photoshop today and I get this "graphics processor is incompatible" message. So we updated our NVIDIA graphic card again, restarted the computer and it still didn't work. But than we followed a recommendation to turn off the intern graphic (Intel(R) UHD Graphic 630 card in Device manager > Display adapters and after that, I could start both DaVinci Resolve and Photoshop.

Your last logs attempt was the most successful attempt.

I'm glad you solved the issue. And yes, disabling the Intel graphics adapter was going to be my first suggestion. And had that failed, the next suggestion would have been to remove the Intel iGPU driver using DDU.

Hello Dwaine,

You have saved countless people from the opening crashes of the Da Vinci application (resolve.exe).
I have just changed computers for a much more powerful one but Davinci does not launch.
I tried several versions from 16 to 18 but same result.
I tried a lot of things but now I don't know what to do.
I see resolve.exe in the task manager for a few seconds then it disappears.
Computer is w10 Pro 22H2, Core i7-12700, RAM 64 Go, Motherboard MSI PRO B660M-P DDR4 with Intel UHD Graphics 770.
I send you the CaptureLogs 'DaVinci-Resolve-logs-102022_143019,44.zip' you will find on it 4 other files (2 about windows application logs, 1 for the NFO, 1 for the error message I have at the end of the installation in the welcome wizard).
You will find it here: https:// drive.google.com/drive/folders/1y-LQcsWlHvqVCBnaxNKtWAiKOku26qZa?usp=sharing
(you have to delete the space before 'drive...')

I can't find any valid solution. I uninstalled the graphics card drivers. Davinci launched and there was a 'critical_quit: GPU Initialization Failed. Davinci Resolve could not initialize OpenGL...'. Now I am installing a virtual machine on my physical computer!

Dear Dwaine,

I have followed all the mentioned above steps and here is the URL to my files:
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/ ... sp=sharing

Please let me know if there is anything that I need to additionally do. I have been personally using DaVinci resolve 17 for sometime and randomly it just decided to stop opening at all and at this point I have tried everything that I could possibly find online as a resolution.

Kind regards

Somehow, your config files have gotten corrupted.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\korisnik\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat and .config.data files.

Now Resolve should start. All the Resolve preferences will be set to their default values. Reselect any Resolve Preference setting changes you had previously made.

If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.

It appears Resolve is not happy with the OpenCL support in the Intel 31.0.101.1999 graphics driver you have installed.

MSI has a newer Intel driver for your B660M motherboard:

https://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/mb/intel_vga_adl.zip which is version 31.0.101.3302.

Install that and see if that works better.

Hello Dwaine,

I have a problem with Davinci Resolve. One day it stopped executing. When i try to run nothing happens. I suspect this is related to some windows updates that happened the same day.
I've tried to install other versions of Davinci, reinstall Visual C++ redistributable, went through the solving techniques presented on youtube with no success.
Please find my SisInfo and Davinci logs here : https://we.tl/t-m5rmi9LmU3

First suggestion would be to disable the Citrix Indirect Display Adapter in Device Manager - Display Adapters and see if that helps.

If that doesn't help, do the same for the Intel UHD Graphics 630 adapter in the same area and see if that helps. If that helps, a different Intel graphics driver could help.

Hello, I have been having a lot of difficulty running DaVinci Resolve 18. At first I thought it was my VPN, but even after temporarily uninstalling it, DaVinci still wouldn't start. I have created links for my capture log and system info, but have been unable to attach them to this post.

You can't attach them. You need to put them on a file sharing site and provide links to the files here.

As Uli mentioned, new users may not be allowed to post URL's. If that happens, put a space near the front of the URL, so the forum system doesn't see it as a URL.

Hello Dwaine,

I have installed the MSI drivers version 31.0.101.3302 but no change.
I have installed the MSI drivers version 31.0.101.3790 but no change.
Finally I used the Display Driver Uninstaller 'DDU v18.0.5.8' to uninstall all display drivers and reinstalled the MSI drivers version 31.0.101.3790.
And now it's magic, it works fine!

Dwaine,

Thank you for taking time to look over my problem. I have really enjoyed using Davinci and it is excellent software. Today while using it, I got an error that my backup location was not available and then some of the files in my timeline began to turn red saying they weren't available. I saved the file and closed the program. After that I could never get it to restart. I've tried most of the fixes mentioned on youtube and online including doing a fresh download of the program. To the best of my knowledge nothing changed immediately prior to the problem developing.

My log files are available at h ttps://drive.google.com/file/d/1CHeYomI ... sp=sharing

Thanks!

OK. Sounds like you may have filled up the system drive, so check that.

The reason Resolve is not currently launching is due to a corrupt config file.

Your config.dat file is bad. You have a good backup copy.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\Owner\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat file.

Right click the config.dat.bak file and select Copy.

Now select the Paste menu. That should make a new file called config.dat - Copy.bak

Rename that file to config.dat

Now Resolve should start.

If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.

Hello Dwaine,

I was trying to render a project last night when my DaVinci Resolve crashed and canceled the rendering. Now today, when I try to open Resolve it does not open. It just gives me the spinning blue wheel and does nothing. I've tried running as admin, disconnecting USB peripherals, running compatibility troubleshooter, and nothing works. So, I watched Scott Fincher's YT video: "Davinci Resolve WON'T OPEN - Easy Fix For Windows 10 - This Tutorial Will Get You Up and Running" and downloaded my capture logs as well as ran the code he provided in Windows PowerShell. Please help and thank you for everything you do for the DaVinci community.

Best regards,
Eric

P.S. I would've attached the capture logs to this post but when I tried to do so, I got this message: 413 Request Entity Too Large

You need to put the logs on a file sharing site and provide a link to the logs. Also need a Windows System Information .NFO file. Details for all this below:

Your config.dat file is bad.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\admin\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat file.

Now Resolve should start.

It will recreate the config.dat file with the default starting info. If you had any Resolve Preferences modifications made, be sure to reapply those after starting.

If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.

I downloaded Davinci resolve onto my new PC. I have done all the recommended things online but no luck. When I try to open it the loading screen pops up and then collapses again. However, there was one day that for some reason it worked perfectly fine, but the very next day it was back to not opening.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!

Assuming you are using a Windows system:

I can't tell from the logs what's going on. They look pretty normal.

How far into the launch process is Resolve getting? Are you getting to the Project Manager page?

When does the "memory could not be written" error occur?

I do see in display adapters that you have both a "DameWare Development Mirror Driver 64-bit" and a "DisplayLink USB Device" present, along with the T1000 and UHD Graphics 630 GPUs. And that in the most recent log, you have 3 monitors connected.

First thing I'd try is disconnecting all external displays from the ZBook, and see what that does.

If that doesn't help, I'd try disabling the Dameware and DisplayLink adapters in Device Manager - Display Adapters and see if that helps.

Ok I am not very techy at all so I did my best, please let me know if this is not correct, thanks!

At launch I get the Resolve "splash" screen, then after a number of items have loaded (per the splash screen text) I get the memory error.

I tried the following with no luck:
1) Disabling Dameware (no change in behavior)
2) Disabling the onboard Intel Graphics card. This does change the behavior. I get a "Resolve Stopped Unexpectedly" BMD error message in this situation. But it still won't start.
3) Undocking the laptop completely. Same behavior.

I don't see "DisplayLink" under Display Adapters, so I wasn't able to disable that.

The DisplayLink adapter would typically be there when you connect the laptop to a docking station, or perhaps have a USB/TB expansion adapter connected.

Make sure the laptop is not connected to ANYTHING external aside from the power supply, and see if the issue persists. If the issue does persist, send a new Resolve log and NFO file created with nothing external connected to the laptop.

My DaVinci Resolve was working fine up until yesterday, I am unable to launch it today for some reason. I am on a Mac, on clicking the Resolve Icon it pops and shows up on the dock but nothing seems to launch, I tried it a few times. All my other apps are working so I don't think it's an issue with my computer. I have the
Resolve 18 version, running on a macOS Ventura.

Assuming you not using the Apple App Store version of Resolve, open Finder and navigate to the /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve folder and double click the CaptureLogs.app app to run it. It will create a Resolve log file on your Desktop. If the file is small enough, you may be able to attach it here. If not, put the file on a file sharing site and provide a link to the file here.

Note that new forum users may not be able to post a URL. If that happens, just put a space near the front of the URL, so the forum system doesn't think it's a URL.

Also note that there is also a /Users/username/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve folder. That's NOT the folder that CaptureLogs.app is in.

Why do you recommend DDU? Both nvidia & intel allow for a clean installation of the new drivers. Just check the correct boxes. The bad news is you cannot exclude installing geforce experience and a SDK kit which can be removed via windows.

You can indeed exclude GeForce Experience from being installed as well as the PhysX SDK.
Select Driver only.

Choose Custom Install and uncheck anything you don't want and then select clean install and continue.

Oops. Apologies.
Been using clean install for years without problems. Last 2 updates I clearly clicked wrong check box on 1st page.
Thanks for correction. G

Dear Dwaine,
yesterday I updated my Da Vinci Resolve to the free version 18.1.2. Unfortunately I cannot start my program. The task manager says "stopped" as soon as it is opened. I've tried everything from Scott Fichters Video but nothing happens. Reinstalling didn't help either.

URL to the .NFO and file and Resolve Log:

I would be very grateful if you could help me. I love Da Vinci Resolve a lot!

Kind regards,
Peter

@Peter:

Your config.dat file is bad.

Open File Explorer Options, and on the View tab, enable "Show hidden files, folders and drives".

Also unselect "Hide extensions for known file types".

Then in File Explorer, navigate to this folder:

C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Preferences

Delete the config.dat file.

Now Resolve should start.

It will recreate the config.dat with the default starting info. If you had any Preferences modifications made, be sure to reapply those after starting.

If Resolve still doesn't start, send a new Resolve log file.
