Database cannot be created (Disk Database)

PostThu Aug 20, 2020 3:27 pm

Hi!

I'm fairly new to DaVinci Resolve and worked on a few projects only. Recently a disk database dissapeared from the list of databases and I tried to re-connect to it by clicking "Create Database" and under the connect tab I entered the name and location of the database.

However, when I click "Connect", I get this error message:

"New Database cannot be created. Database "db-name" is already in use."

It seems to be related to the specific database name, as I can connect to it when I enter a different name. Is there a way to "release" the name of a database that disappeared from the list so I can use it again?

Thanks for you help!

So after countless Google searches I finally found a way to solve this problem. It somehow has to do with an entry in the config file "dblist.conf" that was stuck there but never actually showed up in the GUI of the project manager.

On macOS the file is under
Code: Select all
/Users/<username>/Library/Preferences/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/dblist.conf

Open it in a text editor and find the line that starts with the database name that cannot be created. Delete that line and save the file.

After that, I can create the database again and it shows up properly in the project manager.

Hope that helps :D
