Davinci Resolve could not find any Open capable GPUs

Hi,

I try to install Davinci Resolve for the first time on my Mac Mini (mid 2011 version), on High Sierra OS.
When I try to open the software, I just get this message:

"DAVINCI RESOLVE COULD NOT FIND ANY OPENCL CAPABLE GPUs.
WOULD YOU LIKE TO REVIEW AND UPDATE YOUR DAVINCI RESOLVE HARDWARE CONFIGURATION?
please ensure that appropriate GPU drivers are installed and your Davinci hardware is configured
appropriately"

Then I have choice of "Quit" (which of course does not help) or "Update Configuration".
If I click on the latter, I get to another window where it seems I can manage Media Storage. But I dont know what to do or what to configure, and how !

Also wonder if it may be that my old mac does not fulfill the requirement for Davinci Resolve ?

Anyone who can help me ??

Your machine will not cut it, sorry for the bad news. Even a current Mac mini will need an eGPU.

Hi - thanks a lot to you Uli Plank for the answer.

Two follow-up questions to that answer :

1. Isn't it a way I can use a "stripped" version of Davinci Resolve with my equiment (without the modules that demands high graphic resolutions) ? I only need basic editing functionality for cutting, as I will export and send the final cut to someone else who will do color correction and grading and special effects etc for me. that requires high level graphics. So I would think I dont need that high requirements for a GPU for my part of the work.

2. If there is no way I can use Davinci Resolve at all with my Mac Mini due to low specs - can I get some extra equipment to connect up to it so that it will work. You mentioned "eGPU" ? Would that be all I need, and will that work with my MAC Mini ?

(As you may understand, I am a beginner!)

Uli - or anyone else ?

I really appreciate feedback !!!

Your Mac mini has no fast Thunderbolt ports, so no external equipment will help.

There is no stripped down version of Resolve, it always relies on a sufficient GPU.
Give Lightworks a try, it is less demanding on hardware. Or try Kyno if you only need to make rough assembly.

Thank you so much for your clarifications and advice. I highly apprechiate it!

I have now switched to using a Macbook Air laptop I had, which seems to handle Resolve.
So I got back on track.
