There's dedicated H.264/265 hardware on both the GPU and CPU, while the hardware acceleration for other codecs like Braw, Redcode, ArriRaw, etc are implemented using the general purpose compute hardware. Some of those codecs might still be executing on the CPU instead of using GPU compute to speed them up, depending on the implementation. It depends on how the developers building the SDKs that third party applications use for integration implemented their decoding.

Nvidia CEO: RTX 3080 / 3090 Shortages To Last Until 2021.

Hi.

Nvidia CEO: RTX 3080 and 3090 Shortages To Last Until 2021. And it doesn't look good for the RTX 3070, either. Here is a link:

ArriRAW is uncompressed so it doesn't require any decoding. Only process which it needs is debayering (noise management if there is any in Arri SDK).
H264/5 handling is very special though as you said.

Is it really demand issue (not supply) or just simple PR crap from Nvidia side?

Also the launch of the 3070 postponed to october 29 to "have more cards available at launch day" (yeah, sure), casually a day after the big Navi reveal, doesn't smell really good...

Hi.

Rumors on the Intenet say that the yield of the Samsung’s 8nm process node, for the moment are low and is expected. The profit for nVidea will go up, when the yield increases over time.

I managed to snag an EVGA 3090 XC3 Ultra. Only 3 were delivered to my dealer, Canada Computers, one of the larger chains in the country. It's performing beautifully.

I'm selling my 2 matching EVGA 1080ti FTW3 GPUs. If anyone's interested they're posted as a pair in Off Topic.

So supply problem, not some unreal demand. Typical pr lie.
Why don't they give us numbers. Eg. we produces xyz which is 2x more than for series 2 launch, but still could not meet demand. Without facts those words are meaningless. All what they do is pretend and trying to cover up poor new series launch.

How is it working out in Resolve? My strix 3090 should be arriving soon!

It's really nice - decreasing my cache render times by 60-100 percent on average. The card runs at 1970MHz boost clock in Resolve renders and playback at default settings.
