Upload failed directly to YouTube.

PostSat Oct 10, 2020 10:17 am

Description of problem:
- Upload failed after the video has been rendered.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
- 16.2.7.010

How reproducible:
- Always.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Launch Resolve.
2. Create a timeline with length about 1h30m (timestamp 2:30:00:00).
3. Render with YouTube profile.
4. Confirm the resolution is 1080p, refresh rate is 50 or 60 and other settings remained default.
5. Observe the results.

Actual results:
- Render was successful but upload failed.

Expected results:
- Both render and upload are successful.

Additional info:
- I have tested with different resolutions with the same results.
- The upload was successful when the outputted video is below 4GB but not above.
- Attached diagnostics log. I roughly check it only mentioned error in decoding audio samples from the video clips near the end of timeline.
- If I should lodge bug report somewhere else or in other way, please let me know.
- If the error is not a bug. Can we get a message from the software when estimated file size is exceeding 4GB?

Has this been addressed anywhere? I just had a 5 GB video fail to upload using the Upload To Youtube feature. DR Render window says Upload Failed. Youtube channel dashboard actually shows an entry for the video with the correct title/description, but it is a blank thumbnail and the status is stuck on "Processing will begin shortly" which suggests that there's some breakdown in the upload pipeline after the video ID is generated.

DR 17.4.1b4

Re: Upload failed directly to YouTube.

I'm having this exact issue 17.4.3 on MacOS X. The video finished rendering and stores locally, but then fails to upload to youtube.

I find this annoying because I loved the new YouTube chapter creation from within Resolve (when it worked). I was using it for a while, and I haven't been able to successfully upload to YT from resolve for months now.

I've tried a myriad of things like, signing out of YouTube, changing the video length, changing upload settings, but all to no avail.

Anyone got this figured out?

I am getting this same thing. I have tried everything I can think of. Very frustrating.

Are there some sort of debug logs to troubleshoot this?

Getting same issue but even with small files now:

"The request cannot be completed because you have exceeded your \u003ca href="/youtube/v3/getting-started#quota"\u003equota\u003c/a\u003e.", "domain": "youtube.quota", "reason": "quotaExceeded"

I was unaware there is a youtube qouta.
This is on the latest 14.4 release

YouTube has a limit for “unverified” uploads that exceed a certain length.
Maybe you need to render out and upload outside Resolve.

I am getting the error on a 34mb .mp4 that Resolve is rendering.
I end up just uploading with the browser. Not sure why a small file like that is failing with a quota error.

I have the same problem ever since updating to the 17 version.
No matter how small a clip after rendering it will not upload.

I reinstalled the 16 version and had no problem uploading?

Frustrating since I love the features of 17 and hate the extra step of uploading from you tube directly.

Same issue here !
I LOVE the option to export markers to chapters in YouTube and doing it by hand takes a lot of time.

Please, can we have a fix for this ??

I think it worked 1 time out of like 10 for me so far.
Something is messed up as it stopped working after one of the last updates.

Obviously we can render to a folder and manually upload but the chapter creation from the markers is just such a huge time saver.

This should be put on a priority fix list.

it does not work for any size upload, it fails on small youtube shorts or longer ones just as readily.
The error in the logs is about Youtube API Quotas.

my guess is they are using some hard coded api username and all the Resolve users are maxing out the quotas for that username.

Wow this has been an issue for almost 2 years...
If this isn't going to be fixed, perhaps it could give us a quick "export chapters to text" to put in the YT as it is a bit clunky the way you have do it now...

Just chiming in. Add to me to the list of M1 Mac users that can no longer use Upload to YouTube and as such miss the great feature to use makers for chapters. For those who miss this feature, here's a page for you that will help until Blackmagic corrects the bug:

It's not just the Mac users. Rendering and uploading from a Gigabyte Aero running Windows 11 and DVR 17.4.6 build 4, the render is fine and saves as expected, but "Upload failed," is the result for YouTube upload. I'd really love for this to work. :)

I have the same issue with "upload failed" to YouTube and just wanted to give a +1 to Davidian's idea of providing a quick export of marker time codes and descriptions that can be easily copy/pasted into YouTube descriptions. It's not an ideal end solution but at least is totally under Blackmagic's control (i.e. not dependent on YouTube APIs etc.).
Thanks.

+1 to this. Worked once and then never again and yes, it would be great to have a chapter converter at least. This is with Studio 17.4.6 on a Windows 10 x64 machine.

+1 here. Using the Studio 18 Beta version and it worked the first time. But has failed every time after. Like one of the previous posts, it worked once. Second time it got stuck at "Waiting for processing to begin" or something similar and, since then, nothing works.

Add me to the list. I tested the YouTube upload from within Resolve Studio 17.4.6 and it always fails to upload. The test file was 30 seconds long and 39MB. I first logged into my YouTube account in Preferences/Internet Accounts and it shows I'm logged in, then processed it on the Deliver page with YouTube 2160p selected and all fields filled in.

When people "sign in" to YouTube in the Preferences, do you check "Manage your YouTube videos. Learn more"? According to the "Learn more" link, this allows uploading videos to your account. After I made sure that I did that, there is an error message in the davinci_resolve.log file:

I'm getting this error with 400MB files, (often with 1 file in 24hrs or at most 2 files a day). Uploading it via youtube's website work fine though. This occurs even after verifying my phone number with Youtube.

Re: Upload failed directly to YouTube. - Fixed ?

PostMon Jun 20, 2022 7:07 pm

Hi Everyone, I too had this issue and it drove me mad ! I "think" i have a fix, so the issue is the AUTO2 creds, so this is what I did.

ISSUE
Attached account to YouTube Creds
Add content to render QUE
Select Youtube setting
Make Private
Render
Transcodes works
Fails to upload

FIX
I made my youtube account a channel (I really dont know if this helped)
signed out of Youtube creds in resolve
signed in again this time the Manage youtube tick box was unticked (see attachment)
Tick manage youtube videos
add to render que
add youtube setting
click render
render
Transcodes
Now uploades !!!

So how I found this out was when it failed the first 2 million times I went looking for a log, I found this in the Help Menu "create diagnoses ...."
Downloaded that and opened to find a load of ""reason": "ACCESS_TOKEN_SCOPE_INSUFFICIENT","

Now what I am not sure fixed it

1. Making the youtube a channel
2. swearing a lot

see screengrab AFTER i signed out of account in resolve - I really hope this helps people as now I can render straight out !

This doesn't seem like it's going to get fixed and might be an API issues with YT. What would be great, would be an easy way to export a text file or something that includes the chapter labels and timestamps so it can be copied and pasted into the video description manually.

My current work around, which takes far too long, is to export the markers manually as a csv, import that file into Google sheets, delete the extra time code info, and copy and paste into YT.

Thank you @realcraigrussillroy Your information helped me and it worked perfectly. That picture you attached explained what I need to do.

I made this account on this forum just to say thanks. I usually never do this, but too many people on the internet just do Google searches and get the answers they want and never thank the person who provided the solution.

just wanted to post that this issue has gone away, at least for me. Not sure if it was an API fix on YouTube's end or something BMD did, but I've had no issue uploading videos for several months now :)

Tick manage youtube videos

I registered just to say thanks for this. Its the first time I tried using this and I thought I was doing something wrong.

I don't remember whether I had it checked or not when I first linked my youtube account. But I checked the box and it now works.

I accidentally closed the uploading in the render queue. How do I get it back there to continue uploading it?
