Frame.io integration only shows video files

PostTue Oct 13, 2020 6:10 am

I am looking to use the Frame.io DaVinci Resolve integration.

When I load up my project folders I can see footage files (ie. MOVs, MXFs, etc) but no sound files or any related media files.

If I try to access a folder with only sound material, the folder appears empty.

Has anyone else had any experience using Frame.io to access files other than video, or is the integration limited to video files only?

Just to double check for sanity's sake. You have Davinci Resolve Studio, correct? Not the free version?

Yes - sorry, I should have outlined the setup. DAVINCI Resolve Studio on both Mac OS and Windows 10.

The integration works as expected (displaying as a mounted drive in the media page) but only video files show up in the folders.

Quick update on this for anyone interested.

Frame.io senior support has confirmed this appears to be a problem and to contact Blackmagic support. Blackmagic built the integration, apparently.

Blackmagic support has told me that the integration only supports video files, not audio.. or any other files. This seems quite odd, to be honest. Accessing a 'drive' in the Media tab in any other circumstances (local drive, SAN, etc) shows all file types. Frame.io has pitched itself as a media hub for all things video production. Why BMD would limit the folder view to video files only is very strange indeed.

I had hoped to use Frame.io as a full media suppository to create dailies and manage the offline/online process. Without access to audio files, this is definitely off the cards.

I have .WAV, .mp3 and .TIF file as tests in frame.io. They also appear in the Resolve media browser under frame.io.

So ... looks like this issue changed for the better.
