Updating Mini Panel Software

PostTue Nov 10, 2020 1:19 pm

Hey,

I clicked on the update button for my mini panel. An error message came. But on the rigth screen of my panel stands: Updating your panel. Do not unplug while the update is in progress. Since 30 minutes now.
Does anyone know how long the update will take?

Thx,
Tobias

Ok... now its f..ked up...

I started my computer this morning but the panel has black screen an just a blinking Home button. The DaVinci Control Panels Setup Software says: No DaVinci control panels found.

Is here anyone from Blackmagic in this Forum?

I'm having the same issue. I executed the panel update, and now it's been sitting at "Updating your Panel" for a couple hours. I'm terrified to cancel it and brick the panel. What do?

Side note, this also happened when I updated my Editor keyboard; it sat at the Updating screen forever, but when I touched a key the screen went away and up popped the Panel update screen instead.

I'm just going to leave my machine on all night and pick it up in the morning; I can't risk bricking this panel. Is this an actual firmware update, i.e. is bricking it a possibility if the install process is interrupted?

Ok, it seems to be as I feared it would be. I came in today and my Mini Panel was in the same state, saying that the update was in progress. Resolve had locked up, so I had to shut down my machine. When it shut down, the panel displayed "Update Complete. Unplug and replug power..." So I did that, and now it's just sitting here dark, with a blinking HOME button. Resolve doesn't see it at all.

What next?

Just spoke with BMD tech support, he told me to unplug the panel, then hold down HOME while plugging the panel back into power. That puts it into update mode. Then open the control panel updater in the Help menu and reapply the update. It worked, and I am up and running...

:!: it is very important that during the update the davinchi program must be closed, otherwise you will, like me, in a panic try to update the panel for 1 hour and think that the panel is broken :D

Same problem here, but unfortunately the update fails every time. Do I have a bricked mini panel now?

Assuming you installed the new DaVinci Panels app when u installed the v17.4 update

With Resolve not running, hold the home button and power on the panel.
The home button should blink, then using the usb connection to the DaVinci panels app, update the panel software
When the update is complete, power cycle the panel and start Resolve
If that doesn’t work contact BMD support

That worked perfectly for me, thank you.

Any idea what the update actually did? A bit weird it's not mentioned in the Control Panels Setup when updating.

The update aligned a number of back end engineering processes so there was no feature change.

what button to hold on the micro to force a reset?

Is there a command line tool to force reset it? I have some sort of memory of there being a cmd line utility for the advanced panel and thought there might be one for the micro as well...?

Does the DaVinci Control Panels Setup app see the Mini panel?

If you don't see if there, if you select About This Mac, then System Report, then in the Hardware - USB area of System Report, do you see DaVinci Resolve Panel Mini there?

i figured it out, found the update option under the help menu in Resolve. Either i forgot it was there, or it has changed recently.
Regardless, its updated and fixed.
Thank you.
