When doing a fresh install on Davinci 17, I get this error:

Failed to install Davinci Resolve Extras. Continues with other components?

Im using a XPS 15 9570 with all the requirements.
Version 16 of Davinci works normally.
I tried to uninstall version 16 before installing 17.

Im not able to deselect Davinci Resolve extras from the installation menu.

I get the same error and after that things simply hang.

Looks like maybe the extraction of the installer didn't go through correctly. Are you installing it on the main OS drive? Any permissions issues on your machine? Did you try installing again?
(On opening the .exe initially, it should give you a pop-up which says extracting - did you see that?)

I am on Windows I see the extraction go to 100%, then it shows the "In order to install...." screen, I press install and the error comes up.

Also, can you check if there is enough disk space on your primary disk?

Yes, there is more than enough disk space available.

DaVinci Resolve Control Panels

Seem to have installed but then it fails (or it fails during the DaVinci Resolve Control Panels install).

Have you tried re-downloading the installer?

Wait so when you said it seems to have installed, does that mean something happens when try to launch Resolve?

I'm also trying to get DR 17 to run, too, btw.

It seems to have installed Blackmagic RAW Common Components and DaVinci Resolve Control Panels, as both subfolders exist. But Resolve is not, there is no resolve folder.

I'm having the same issue when installing. "Failied to install DaVinci Resolve Extras. Continue with others components?" popup appears and after that it hangs and does nothing. I tried uninstalling DR 16, Control Panels and so but it fails as well. I tried redownloading the installer again but I get the same output. I also have plenty of disk space.

Installation of DR 16.3 Beta runs normally and without errors.

My system specs are:
Windows 10 1909 (18363.1193)
Ryzen Threadripper 3990X
256 GB of RAM

So I'm guessing its the installer that's saying it's installed? If so, I had the same issue.

If you feel comfortable going through the registry, there's registry key I deleted that allowed me run the installer again.

Code: Select all

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Blackmagic Design > Blackmagic Resolve

Delete that folder. You'll know it's the right one if it has an entry called Version with a value of 17.

None of the above worked.
Tried in my wife's xps, fresh Davinci 17 install, same problem. =/

I see the extracting popup. When I in the step to select the components, I'm deselecting the ones I don't need (Panels, etc) and Davinci Resolve extras I'm unable to deselect. As soon as I click install, it shows the error. Looks like it's doing a check somewhere and gives this error.

Got same problem too. Could roll back to v16 latest beta without problem.

Have downloaded 3 time, but same problem.
Uninstalled previous version, reboot, re-install beta 17, same problem.
Tried to run installer as "admin", same problem.

It's Quadro M4000 card on Win 10 64-bit machine. How much space v17 beta requires on the C: drive?

same problem here... extras failed to install etc.

I am having the same problem. Black Magic Design needs to fix this.

You need to install all the components in the installer. If you de-select some it should prompt you later on that these components are needed. This is what I saw when I de-selected the BRAW player. With everything installed it all runs fine. A lot has changed in the program.
Fateh, the main folder in Program Files on Windows is 2.2GB.

I am get the same error, trying to install, on a Dell Precision 5530.
To be clear: the Resolve 17 beta installation does NOT proceed...
...the 'Continue with others components?' invitation is invalid, since the 'DaVinci Resolve Extras' box cannot be unchecked. (Appears greyed out)
So, there is no visible route to proceed, and there does not appear to have been any substantantive installation of Resolve 17 beta - Resolve 16.3 seems unaffected and is still working perfectly.

I am Experiencing the same issue

1. Downloaded davinci Resolve 17 beta
2. Extracted
3 Launched the DaVinci_Resolve_17.0b1_Windows.exe
4. The install begins buy installing the "Davinci Control panels"
5. Then it goes to install "DaVinci Resolve Extras" and it fails with the following message
"Failed to install DaVinci Resolve extras. Continue with others components?"
6. Click "OK" and the installation stops with the installation screen open. No additional installations are performed or completed, including: Davinci Resolve 17.0beta1 and Visuall C++ 2015-2019 x64 Redistributable.

same issue on a Dell XPS 15 9570.. extras won't install and can't proceed.

Had the same problem on Windows.

What worked for me... Run the installer as an administrator (that is, right click on the installer and select "Run as administrator").

I had already tried running as admin .....didn't work for me.

What version of Windows are you running? Tried to install it as administrator but same problem appears.

It would be nice if someone from Blackmagic offered us a solution or at least an answer. I really want to try DR 17!

The easiest thing to do is for Blackmagic to provide a simple diagnostic script to determine why Resolve 17 cannot be installed on certain computers.

I've seen a few people come up with a weird solution that may or may not work, might be worth a try though.

Does your Windows Account Username have a space in it? There's another thread where a guy was getting this error, so he edited that space out of the username and then tried installing and it worked.

Just adding to the chorus here. Currently on Davinci Resolve Studio 16 with no problems. Attempting to update to 17 give the same "failed to install extras" error that others are seeing. System is Dell i7-7700 and Windows 10. Plenty of disk space and RAM. Un-installing 16 and attempting to install 17 yields the same error. Re-installed 16 successfully and no problems with it.

Yep, some input or at least acknowledgement from Blackmagic Design would be appropriate here.

By providing a diagnostic script showing the exact error message instead of a return code.

Does your Windows User Name have a space in it, like the last posts in this thread:

If so, a work around would be to remove the space.

The next release will address this issue.

And hopefully Cary's issue.

17b2 is just out. Should fix this issue.

My login was two words. Installing as one world "Administrator" allowed the free version to install.

I cannot install Davinci Resolve 17.1 free version on my windows 10 home edition OS. Downloading the file is no problem but when I try to install it I get a message saying Failed to install Visual C++ 2015-2019 x64 Redistributable. Continue with other components.

My Computer is a ASUS G752VS 32GB RAM with i7Core 2.6GHz processor and 8GB ram Graphics card. I have attempted to install it on the main OS drive which is a SSD hard drive. I have plenty of hard drive space and my computer is virus free. I have even uninstalled Visual C++ 2015-2019 x64 Redistributable components & reinstalled it again from Microsoft. There is obviously a problem with the software because I never had this issue with Davinci Resolve 16.
