DCTL regression in Resolve 17

PostTue Nov 10, 2020 9:59 am

In previous versions of Resolve, one could simply load a DCTL by right clicking on the clip (or node) and going to the DCTL section from the drop down.

In Resolve 17 this behaviour has changed so that all DCTLs are now lumped under the LUT menu.

This is a major step backwards as the DCTLs get lost under the myriad of LUTs a user may have. Not to mention the fact that there is no easy way to discern whether an item is a DCTL or a LUT - especially where a user has many LUTs and/or DCTLs. It becomes a not-so-fun guessing game and wastes time compared to the ease of use in previous versions where all DTCLs were filtered under a single menu.

Can we please revert to the previous behaviour?

I would like too the previous behavior if that is the case.

Can you still access the dctl from the inspector fx menu?

I believe you're talking about the DCTL OFX plugin through ResolveFX?

That still works.

I think he is talking about the contextual right click menu on a node/clip level. Not the OFX menu.

As of Beta 5, the behavior is still in this regressive state.

This continues to make workflows with DCTL highly inefficient compared to previous versions of Resolve.

It looks like this behavior is a permanent change in v17 and a major step back in UI efficiencies.

Even the DCTL OFX plugin no longer shows the directory structures of DCTL files like it did in v16. :(
