I wonder if previous owners of the studio version are eligible for this offer.

It's on the keyboard product page. But tbh i'm really gutted because i just bought Davinci 16 on 1st of Sept and now i'm looking at having to shell out the same amount again. :(

Esp on linux where there's no decent alternative the big editor keyboard was crazy overpriced, but i really want a scrub wheel, so i've spent hours on github trying to compile code to make a contourpro v2 work, without much success.

it'd be amazing if they backdate it 3 months or something. If i knew this was coming I 100% would have waited the 5 weeks to get davinci. :( gutted !

I've been wanting to buy DaVinci Resolve but haven't yet. I just watched the promo video for V17 and saw this Speed Editor that you can get for free with purchase of the Studio copy of the software.

How exactly does this work? No details were given. Am I buying a boxed version of this software rather than a digital copy from a retailer? If so, are they giving me this Speed Editor keyboard for free or do I use my receipt from the retailer to come back here to DaVinci's website to get the keyboard for free?

I appreciate the free keyboard, but please be specific on what I am required to do to get it.

Can anyone help answer these questions for me, please?

You have to purchase from an authorized reseller, list on the web site. Just tell them you want the Activation key version of DaVinci Resolve Studio with the Speed Editor bundle.

Is the speed editor a limited offer, or is it now included with Resolve Studio moving forward?

Had a few more questions...

Is it available with both the Dongle and the License versions?

Can the editor also be used in the Edit page (at least partially), or is it exclusive to the Cut page?

I bought Resolve less than two weeks ago. I guess we'll see how this goes.

New Speed Editor Panel free with Studio purchase

So on the main BMD Page it show the new Speed Editor Panel. It’s says “Free with Studio Purchase”

I’m guessing those of us loyal people that have already purchased and been using studio for years are S.O.L?

For those of us that already purchased the studio version, it would be nice if we can get a discount on the Speed Editor.

It's a limited-time offer to entice new customers. It's a little oddly structured, the panel being the free inclusion w/ a Studio license, but given the $4 difference in price it's functionally the same as if the panel came w/ a Studio key.

Anyone know when it’s available? I already have Studio (as a result of buying a camera) so I doubt they’re going to be giving thousands away to existing studio owners. They’ve got to make money. I would t be surprised if it costs more than $295 to make, tbh.
They’re after market share and this is how to do it. Kudos to them.

I may buy a second dongle just to have one, and get the panel thrown in!

So essentially for those of us who already have a studio license it makes more sense to buy another studio license which now comes with the panel then to buy the panel only...?

Hello,

And The Edit Keyboards?

Free with DaVinci Resolve Studio??

What if I have version 16 Studio what happens?

Just the hardware? That seems an awful lot for some plastic. Albeit good quality and durable.

But of course research and development and the software integration must have cost them upfront.

As I understand, the speed editor is free to new purchasers. Not existing ones. Like me. It’s only $295 though.

This is why they can continue to sell Resolve Studio for just $299 -- the hardware is where the profit is. This micro-panel is a clever way to leverage the software for more hardware sales.

Savvy move BMD.

I can't see existing users being offered a free device or a discount. BMD has to make a profit somehow and I suspect that they're hoping a lot of existing users will purchase. If I ever used the cut page it would be tempting.

The Speed Editor is offered at no addition charge for a limited time when you purchase DaVinci Resolve Studio with the activation key. Contact your local reseller to order.

The offer is not available for existing Studio users but you do have a no charge upgrade to v17.

Where are seeing the limited time offer? All I get when clicking on find a reseller is the home landing page. I don’t even see the speed editor and the pages for studio don’t even show free keyboard

Does anyone know if this speed editor panel will work with the Media and Edit page? If it does, it's what I've been waiting for and it is definitely priced right. Now, will they be following with a Color panel too, etc. for the Color page and respective pages?

They already have three color panels. And yes it does work in the edit page, with slight differences as the pages are different.

I'm not seeing a link to take advantage of that deal; just a list of resellers, and I have yet to see one that has it featured. Am I missing something? Do we have to use a special link or reseller to get the deal?

Maybe I'm missing something, but this offer appears to be relevant only to people who haven't purchased a Blackmagic camera with DR Studio included. It seems directed at people who are currently using the free version of DR with other camera brands.

Exactly! Also, regarding the other inquiry, I know they have 3 other control panels. I was asking if a $295 speed color panel will be in the future.

The only other cow I have with this and Resolve 17 is the focus was mostly on the CUT page. Why not the EDIT page? I don't know anyone who tried and like the cut page at all. :(

From a reseller, BMD doesn't sell direct. My guess is that Speed Editor support is one of the the Cut pages features that will eventually get ported to the Edit page, but that is only a guess.

I think the Cut page is cool and can save some time when laying out a new timeline, but once you start needing some finesse, then the Edit page becomes necessary... I think they should combine the two instead of having two separate pages. Maybe like being able to switch the timeline in the Edit page to the Cut page timeline but still have all of the Edit tools at our disposal.... something like that.

The cut page is great for certain fast turn in projects that don't need all the finishing tools at least not to a large degree. Besides, the speed editor makes the cut page a great Multicam editor.
