Apple M1 "Unsupported GPU Processing Mode"

PostTue Nov 17, 2020 6:32 pm

Hi there,

I have downloaded the DaVinci Resolve 17.1 for Apple Macbook Pro M1 but when installing it I get the following error: "Unsupported GPU Processing Mode. Please review the GPU drivers and GPU configuration under preferences."

I have no idea how to set this. Could you please help me?

Thank you very much!

Experiencing the same error. I tried to change to Metal in the typical dropdown to shows Metal and OpenCL it's blank. I can't select any option at all.
Downloaded from their site last night.

Thank you very much for your fast feedback but where can I change this?

The error notification is letting me only to "Update Configuration" or "Quit".

Where do I need to click in order to change it?

I have downloaded it from the website. First the 17.0, but then uninstalled it and trying since the 17.1.

Hi Valentina,

Can you please capture the logs from this system and send us?

Open Finder and navigate to /Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve and run CaptureLogs. A Resolve log file will still be created on your Desktop. Please send that to us - you can upload it to dropbox (or any other file sharing service) and send us a link.

Can BMD give some comments on usage of Davinci's Fusion on the M1, given that the official word is it requires 32GB RAM but the M1 only offers at most 16GB RAM.

Hi Jason,

The logs that you have sent show that you are running 17.0 build - Could you please download and try the 17.1 build from the website? Please let us know if that doesnt work for you.

That's odd, because the latest update cured that error for my M1 Mini (16GB). At least with 6K footage, I haven't tried any 8K footage on it yet.

My M1 has 16 gigs and the project is all HD. Hope there is a fix for this.

Hi Steve

Some info on your hardware, Resolve version and OS version would help to start with. Please include displays (number, resolution etc) in your description.

Please include a shareable link to your logs - the FAQs can help

If it happens with a specific project, please include an exported DRP file in your link too.

Thanks

Thank you in advance for you assistance.

The Mac OS version is 11.2.3
Davinci Resolve version is 17.2.1 build 13

This is a new computer and a new install of Davinci Resolve. This project is a template that has been used to create weekly file/exports for several years on my old Mac.

Apparently this system does not allow me to upend the requested .drp file and cannot link to a url either.

Perhaps you go to dropbox.com and enter the following link/s after the .com to can get the files:

Yes. I'm not sure how it was corrected, but this is what I did.

First, I installed version 16—this I downloaded from Blackmagic.com. That worked, so I updated back to version 17—also downloaded from Blackmagic.com.

I'm not certain, but the problem began when I installed the software through that apple App Store.
Hope this helps.

Just forget that Apple Store version. It's crippled and most of the time outdated too.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.
