Linear keyframes behave as static with HDR color wheels

PostWed Nov 18, 2020 10:05 am

Trying to smooth out an exposure change using the new HDR color wheels but linear keyframes don't work, they behave as static. So only abrupt changes.

Anyone?

It looks like they haven't included those new features (colour warper doesn't work yet either) in the list of functions that work with keyframing yet - there's a dropdown list in the keyframing panel and the ew stuff isn't in there yet, hopefully it will be soon...

Thanks Mart, then I will key frame using the SDR Primaries for now.

Linear keyframes for HDR grading are still not working in 17.0B Build 10 despite "Color Corrector" being listed and enabled in the keyframe drop down list.

Does anyone know if this is to eventually be added, or not? If yes, then of course I can wait but it would be nice to know.

Linear keyframes for HDR grading are still not working in 17.0B Build 18.

I am trying to come up with a temporary workaround.

Instead of keyframing a single adjustment node I thought I would try adding a Parallel node with a Parallel Mixer. I converted to Layer Mixer nodes so that the lower node has priority over the upper. I temporally turned off the upper node, selected the lower node and adjusted the HDR palette controls for the exposure change. I then turned on the upper node and keyframed 'Key Output' on the lower node from 0 to 1, over the period the exposure correction was needed.

This seems to work for some clips I tried it on but am sure there will be problems moving on so is there a better way?

Thanks..

So pleased to find this fixed in 17 Beta 8 :)

At first I wasn't sure since the readouts in the zones panel still only change abruptly at each linear key frame. However scrubbing or playing the image, or watching the scopes show it does now work with smooth changes happening from one key frame to the next.

Not sure if this is as far as it goes and "as intended" but I can work with it.
