Bug in Dynamic Zoom

PostThu Nov 19, 2020 12:08 pm

Running Resolve 17 B2 on Windows 10. There appears to be a bug in the Dynamic Zoom window. When DZ is selected, the red and green extents are way beyond the actual frame size. Moving these indicators to the exact frame size results in a dramatic zoom in.

Which 'frame' are you referring to, the timeline's or the image's?

It seems this bug is continuing from earlier versions. In fact, it may not be a "bug". The source of the problem is that Dynamic Zoom doesn't reflect the timeline scale if it has been scaled from a larger size. In my case, I'm bringing 6k video files into Resolve on a timeline and monitor scaled to HD. The Dynamic Zoom preset window sizes do not scale to HD, but appear on the monitor as full SDI frame sizes. It's expremely difficult to resize these frames by adjusting the zoom window and going back to the HD scaled viewer.

The red and green outline are correctly based on the resoluiton of the clip, not the timeline.

If you can't see those outlines at the current Viewer zoom level, you can always reduce that until they come into view.

That's correct. But, when working on a scaled monitor display(since monitor is only HD) it is extremely inconvenient to guess what position to put the green/red indicators in. The standard TRANSITION display doesn't work this way.

I agree that working with 4k video and tiny 1920x1080 Dynamic zoom boxes is far less than ideal. I personally wish the Dynamic zoom boxes fit whatever size the image resolution is because that is how people work with Dynamic zoom IMO.

I don't know what that means, exactly.
