Speed editor jogwheel

PostFri Nov 20, 2020 3:37 pm

Hello,

Does the new Speed editor's jogwheel support control of the playhead in the colortab of Resolve?

Thanks,
Gerhard

Waiting to hear the answer to this too.

This would be a nice addition to the mini panel.

Hallo Gerhard :) It does (half) work in the Color Page, but only in SHTL and JOG mode. When switched to SCRL (which ist the fastest "gear" in the Cut Page) it only moves the playhead as fast as JOG does.

Hallo Florian :-) Thanks for your response!
So I guess it's better than not having a jogwheel at all. Where did you get the speed editor so fast?

What I am dearly missing from it is the good old shuttle wheel of a Sony BVE.
I'd like to have that thing with nice tactile feedback when shuttling, it was a perfect solution.
Now that the cat #19 is out of the bag, test it as much as you can and use the subforum.

Hey Florian!

Do any of the other controls, non jog, work in the Color Page?

I realise that they're all specialised Cut controls, but it would be beyond useful if they could be assigned to parameters per Page. Thanks

Can anyone confirm whether the Speed Editor has the "integrated electronic clutch that creates end stops when used for shuttle and position" that the Editor Keyboard has? If not, how intuitive and tactile is the wheel when using the shuttle function while it freely spins? Thanks!

Hi Florian,
Where did you get the speedcontroller so early?
I'm waiting, but until now no response from my reseller here in Germany when they can deliver!

No, it does not have that. Does the keyboard have that? I'm not under NDA, so I can voice my opinion here: It#s not very intuitive. Because you can't feel the neutral position it's actually quite fiddly.

My honest thought on this, I would have preferred BMD to

1) have made that speed editor primarily for the Edit page and secondarily for the Cut page.

2) have made a $295 control panel for the Color page, something like the Tangent Ripple panel with a few programmable buttons, that can seat next to the speed editor. BMD, please do so.

I have been waiting too long for #2 to come along. Hopefully a Christmas in December 2020 or July 2021 will be wonderful!

If you can double check that it doesn't work on Mojave. That's a limitation because a lot of people don't want to go to to catalina yet.

100% agree on both points.
Ideally the speed editor should work equally well on both cut and edit pages. I do hope they can make this happen with updates.

And a small budget color grading interface would be great. The tangent ripple looks too limited for the price IMO. It needs to have at least color and luma controls.

I will be happy with a budget color grading panel the size of the speed editor so it can just seat next to it. The tangent ripple is not interesting to me for the price. But if BMD will come up with one, I think it will be a lot nicer. I will be so happy if they can make something like this speed grading concept here that I envisioned. This will go a long way if they can deliver and price it like $300.
