Media Management tool desynced timeline and files

I'm running the Studio version on Windows 10. I didn't notice an issue in the version released last week (17b1), nor the latest 16 beta.

I've run Media Management on several of my projects. I've run into 2 different scenarios with the recent release. The first issue is that running it on one of the projects crashes DaVinci Resolve at 98/104 files.

In each case, I have exported the entire project as separate files per clip with 24 frame handles.

The second issue is that the other projects have media that isn't linked properly. Some of the video clips that were on the timeline are not included in my media pool bins, and the audio in one of the projects appears to be slipped +5 frames.

I thought I had completely corrupted my projects! From what I can tell (for now, at least) that's not the case.

I tried media management with one of my projects, and it lost the linked audio. Not sure if that's the same issue you're having but I would agree that media management in R17 still needs work. Seems better... but I still don't trust it.

I tried it again on my project a few minutes ago. I'm glad that I saved a backup (although the audio slippage that occurs from loading those is frustrating on its own)! When it is splitting clips, it doesn't include all of them in the media pool. It'll skip a random number, and go from Clip_S026 to Clip_S028. The clips that are included aren't reliably all there. One clip was represented on the timeline, I played it for about 5 seconds and then the remainder of the clip said Media Offline.

The biggest issue I've noticed is cutting up a single video file and trying to run Media Management on it. If I have a 20-30min clip of non-stop recording, and try to use that, it does some serious damage to the timeline.

I think what I'm going to do is avoid this feature all together until they are able to fix it. I'll prep everything until that point, but I don't want to irretrievably lose any work.

Side note: it would be nice if the MM tool didn't create a folder structure for Power Bins based off of previous projects and used the permanent placement on the hard drive.

I have found Media Management to be reliable only with subclips if you need several short parts of one long recording, even in version 16. Did you define subclips?

I did a few betas ago and subclips were broken. The clips were horribly desynced. The audio that accompanied the video did not even belong together. I have not tried it since before the update that said that they've worked on subclips.

It would be nice to get the entire timeline working for media management though.
