Resolve 10 Lite Beta 1 - Hang on startup

I have been running Resolve 9 Lite (9.1.6) without problems, but tried Resolve 10 Beta 1 (version 10.0.00333) and it hangs on the splash screen ('starting up'). I tried leaving it, and it was still hung hours later.
I tried deinstall / reinstall, with reboots between, and checked the Windows firewall config, which appears to be OK..
Task manager shows: Memory: 2.684,100K CPU 00
I tried increasing the system Virtual Memory, but that made no difference

As a comparison, I installed Resolve 10 Lite on another instance of Windows 7, under VMware, configured with only 2GB memory, and it installed and ran OK (with a warning about non-CUDA video, as expected)

System details:

GPU processor: GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Driver version: 320.49
Other video hardware:

Sorry, I cannot help. It's sounds like same issue I have. Just first window appears and then nothing more. Work with Windows 7, i7 2600k, GTX 570, 16 GB.

Did disable antivirus, download Install zip files from different computers, changed istallation to other drives, installed different graphic drivers etc. Nothing worked out yet. Reinstallation vof resolve 9 without problem...

Would be great if somebody could help.

I've the same Hanging issue.... maybe cause of my card Radeon HD 5800 but i thought this version was Open Cl friendly

I'm getting a "No opencl acceleration hardware detected" error with the same config as Tida. My guess is the 570 doesn't have enough gpu memory, but I need to confirm with tech support.

I take it back this worked. I had an onboard video card.

Open Resolve. Go to Preferences > advanced. Just copy and paste those 3 lines into the big black box

The splash is Hanging never mind gaining access to the preferences ya cant gain access to the program

Like many above, I have been using Resolve Lite 9.1.6 without any issues; however, when I download and install Resolve 10 Beta for windows, it immediately hangs on startup and is never able to load the program. I am wondering if this is because I am running Windows 7 Ultimate. My setup should be capable of handling the new version with the exception that I am running Windows 7 instead of the suggested Windows 8.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled both 9.1.6 and the 10 beta. Resolve 9.1.6 runs perfectly and Resolve 10 continues to hang on startup.

My setup:

ASUS P9X79 Deluxe MB
I7-3930K 2011 Hex Core CPU
64 GB RAM
ASUS NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 GPU

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

Please advise on whether the issue is the OS I am using or if this problem is indicative of something else not being setup correctly on my side. Though I am quite happy with Windows 7, I have a Windows 8 Pro update disk coming and will try that late next week to see if that allows Resolve 10 beta to function. I read one BlackMagic reply indicating that Resolve 10 is running on at least one Windows 7 machine on site. Perhaps further insight into that setup could be helpful.

Just a "me too" post.

Hanging on the startup splash screen with Resolve 10 Lite Beta for Windows.

Resolve 9 runs fine.

System details:
Operating System: Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit 4GB memory

Motherboard: Gigabyte G31M-ES2L

As I already reported that Resolve 10 beta 1 just shows first message and then stops working. It goes not nearly as far that any error messages could occur. Reinstallation of Resolve 9 works fine again.

Now I did nearly everything to make it running. Looked at Firewall, C++ support, SQL databases, antivirus, graphic drivers, all different kind of programs working in background etc..
Deactivated/reinstalled of above mentioned - start computer again ...

And after several hours - nothing worked out. Alway the same - stopped always after 5 seconds :-c

Finally I ended up with reinstallation of Windows 7. Now its working as expected.... (Maybe the fasted way if you have similar problems)

And please believe me - I'm not new at a computer...

My Setup: Intel i7 2600K; 16 GB, EVGA GTX 570; Windows 7 Pro, 128 GB SSD for system only, 3*3TB HDD Seagate Barracuda 7200 for data.

I have never been able to get Resolve 10 beta to work on windows 7 Ultimate without hanging seconds after trying to start the program. Mean while, Resolve 9.1.6 continues to works fine on Windows 7.

So this past weekend, I installed Windows 8 Pro on an alternate boot drive and I was able to load Resolve 10 lite beta and seems to work perfectly, does not hang as it did on Win 7. I have not tried all features yet; however it seems to be working fine and I am confident that it likes Win 8 OS.

Currently most of my other software is on my Windows 7 boot drive. Next step is to migrate other software to the Windows 8 boot drive and see if I can get comfortable with the Win 8 OS. If not, I have set up each boot drive so they both can access my 4 TB data drives. So I can boot up on Win 8 to use Resolve 10, then boot up on Win 7 drive to use my other programs.

In the long run, I plan to use only one OS. It could be Win 8 if the migration goes well and I make peace with the Win 8 OS format or it could be Win 7 if the final release operates well on Win 7. In the mean time, I have a working solution.

I'm having the same problem - hanging at the first (startup) screen. Version 9 has been working fine but today I tried the second beta version of 10 with these results. I have an nvidia geforce 240 GPU. I've tried updating the driver to the latest version (327.23) but with the same results. My system specs are Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1

Edit............ Got a quick helpful reply from Michelle de Benedetti of BM. You do need to meet the specs of the configuration guide for version 10 - and Windows 7 Pro sp1 is essential. The good news is
an uninstall of v10 and reinstall of v9 went very smoothly and all my projects were picked up. Thank you BM

Tried Beta 2, and that hangs as well.. Also tried on an older (2008) Core-Duo HP laptop, with AMD Radeon graphics, and the software installed and ran OK.. All systems running Win 7 SP1..
Having to do a complete reinstall of Windows and all associated software is not a practical solution!

Update from Mon Sep 30.

I have successfully migrated my image to the Win 8 Pro Drive and all my software is functioning well on WIN 8 Pro. Resolve 10 beta lite and beta 2 light, both work fine on WIN 8 Pro. They seem to be quite happy with the WIN 8 OS. I tried beta 2 light on my WIN 7 Ultimate drive and it still hangs like beta 1, so I am moving over fulltime to WIN Pro 8.

I used WIN 8 migration software from O&O software to move my image and software icons from WIN 7 Ultimate to WIN 8 Pro. Works very well if you follow the instructions to the T. I was a little lax on my first try; however, second try worked great. Only had to reload a couple of my software programs. The WIN 8 Update disk is supposed to that for you; however, it never worked for me and I ended up loading the WIN 8 Pro first, then followed up with the O&O WIN 8 migration. (note make sure you make your migration disk and backup up your Win 7 systems files before trying to do the migration).

I was not sure if I could make peace with WIN 8; however, I can get to the desktop in one click and I have setup Computer, Control Panel, Shutdown and Restart icons on the desktop. I also purchased a WIN 8 reference book on Amazon: "Windows 8 In Depth" by Brian Knittle and Paul McFedries. By the time I got through Chapter 4 of 38, I had made peace with WIN 8 and I am fine with moving on now. A lot of good info in the book. The biggest thing is learning a few shortcuts from the book and you will soon find that you are not really limited by the new WIN 8 OS approach.

Since I did the migration and made peace with the WIN 8, I have moved my WIN 8 system drive from a platter HDD to an SSD and I am pleased with the way the setup is working.

Last note of interest, if do your updating right, you can setup your system drive so that it will dual boot to either WIN 7 or WIN 8.

I'm having the same problem also, Version 9 (9.1.6) works fine (a little bit slow but it works)
V10 beta1-beta3 hangs on startup screen.
Update to Windows 8 or a dual boot installation can't be the solution.

i updated to win 8.1 and gtx650 to gtx660.

now it hang..

Sorry to hear others are still having trouble.

Beta 1, 2 and 3 have all been working fine for me after upgrading to WIN 8 Pro. I upgraded to WIN 8.1 over the weekend and Beta 3 is still working for me.

I went back and tried Beta 3 on WIN 7 Ultimate and it still hangs there.

I now have my WIN 8 and WIN 8.1 desktop tuned up to a very useful setup. At this point, I have no problem moving on to Windows 8. It seems to be a bit faster than Windows 7 Ultimate and I can get to the same desktop setup in a couple of quick moves. It is not slowing me down as I originally thought it would.

i think there is a problem with postgresql.

when i try to reinstall all (quicktime, postgresql) i have a popup "failed to install postgresql.

edit : fixed postgresql. still hang. going back to resolve lite 9.1.6.009 an it hang.

please help.

3 days, install, uninstall. no way.
cleaned all folders (postgre, blackmagic).
tried resolve lite 9.1.6.009, resolve lite 10 b1, b2, b3.
always hanging on startup.

complete reinstall is not a solution.

resolve lite 9 worked fine before. 10 b1 and b2 too.

Mine is immediately crashing during the splash screen. Tried Resolve 9 and 10b...no dice.
I have a GeForce GTX680. Ever since the upgraded driver came down, I can't use Resolve. And I can't roll back to the old driver...it can't detect the hardware in Windows.

i don't know what is causing this hang, i did 3 things same day:
gtx650 to gtx660, updating nvidia drivers and win 8 to win 8.1.

all versions hang

first occur this problem when i try to install my graphics card NVIDIA. but now everything is okay....

like the configuration. is there any change they have made here???

Hey guys, the release version is out. We have tested on each of the configs listed in our guides. You can find them at the top of the post production thread. If you are having install/operational issues and are using a system or config that's not recommended or just short on resources it's pretty hard for anyone to help you.
Following the guides and the read me that comes with the app will produce a reliable system.

You also need to document your system in detail for anyone who reads the forum so someone has a chance to guide you.
