Where did DR16 Fusion Templates go to?

I am trying to confirm that the Fusion Text Templates available on the Edit page of DR 16 are no longer available in DR 17. That is what I am seeing.

If this is true, is there any simple way to restore those old Fusion Text Templates so that I can use them inside DR17?

If you are referring to Toolbox - Titles - Fusion Titles, I have those on both Mac and Windows systems running 17.

If that's not what you are referring to, could you offer more specifics?

Can you provide a screen shot of what you are (not) seeing?

I think what folks are saying Dwaine is that the choices in that location are different in 17 than what was there in 16.

All of the fusion templates that were in DR16 can be seen for example at this youtube link

I don't see these in DR17 anymore.

Just to make sure we are talking about the same thing, these are a sampling of the Fusion titles I see in Resolve 17:

Is this what you are not seeing? What DO you see in that area? I'd still love to have a screen shot.

I just checked on my videos projects I created in 16, it is true some some Fusion Titles haven't been carried on to DR 17
My text "Lower Third Simple Vertical Line 2 Up", is not in that list, but I can use it in 17 after placing in in Power Bin -power bin files can be accessible from any future projects.

I opened in DR 17 the projects I created in DR 16, made a Power Bin and dropped that Fusion Text title that was created in 16, and, it was available for me again in DR 17, but there is now mention of it in the Tool Box's Titles list.

here is the Fusion Title

Different templates. Not all of those from 16 are still here.

I'm not sure that's what Erik is talking about. Which is why I asked for a screen shot.

@Erik: Is you issue that you have NO Fusion Titles, or is the issue that some of the 16 Titles are no longer in 17?

I watched Erik's video, non of his Fusion Titles are on that list.
Lower 3rd
Flipping 2Line
Lower 3rd Multiplane Background
Plane Behind Slide In

etc.......
I have never known that you could customize your own Fusion Titles and add them to the list!

Thank you Dwaine.

The issue is that DR17 Fusion Text templates have been updated with new ones which is fine. However, all of the old ones that were in DR16 are no longer there.

I would expect it to be that DR17 brings new templates IN ADDITION to the old ones from DR16.

Would it be possible to add them back into DR17Beta 4?

My screenshot would look just like yours Dwaine so I didn't add it because I can't see how it would be helpful.

Thanks,

Erik

Here's the deal. The 16 Fusion Titles have been deprecated and replaced with newer ones in 17.

If you had used any of the 16 Fusion Titles in a 16 project, those will still work when the project is brought into 17.

If you think there was a 16 Fusion Title that you've just got to have, that doesn't have a new 17 version, you can copy the .setting file for that Title from a Resolve 16 install.

This would require you to reinstall 16 (or install it on a different system, doesn't matter if its the free or Studio version) and copy the desired .setting file.

For Windows, these files are in this folder:

C:\Program Files\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Titles

So with a Resolve 16 install, get the desired .setting files from this folder.

To use the Resolve 16 .setting files in 17, they need to be put into a folder. You can call it whatever you want. I called mine v16. If you just copy them into the same folder with the Resolve 17 .setting files, they won't be seen. They need to be inside their own folder.

You can create that v16 (or whatever you want to call it) folder in the location above. That will work fine. But it will likely be removed if you uninstall Resolve 17.

If you want it to be more persistent, put it into your user specific folder, which is here:

C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Titles

where xxxx is your Windows User name.

This folder should normally be empty. Create your v16 folder here, and paste the desired .setting files into it.

Now when you launch Resolve, you'll see the Resolve 16 titles with a prefix of whatever you named the folder. The v16 titles will placed alphabetically into the Titles list. Something like the screen shot below. Because I used a folder name of v16, all the v16 titles are placed in the v position in the list.

I hope this gets you whatever you are looking for.

That is useful info Dwaine.
So this folder and its contents remain even with new Resolve installs.
I have previously added some .settings file to this folder, and they show up in v17.

I made a project when v16 came out with all the fusion titles available in v16.
When I open that project, it works fine.
There are about 40 titles available.
Guess it will be relatively easy to put the ones I want to keep into that folder.
(I'm not going to uninstall-reinstall to get them, as I imagine most would not - guess I'm lucky I did this)
Many (most) are missing in v17. (or renamed)
I understand how BM might have decided to eliminate the v16 ones so reduce clutter, but in this case, less is not more. :-D

To include the old ones in v17 final release might be nice, or a drop-box location to download if people would like.

Ok, I copied them to that folder and they have been added to V17, works fine.
(C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Titles
where xxxx is your Windows User name.)

I uploaded the .settings files (about 1/2 of them) to GDrive:

removed

Enjoy!

Yeah, they are mostly simple and clean and make for an easy add - or with a quick modification - to a project.
And adding them to that 'persistent' folder means they'll stick around.
It moved me to add a bunch of my modified .settings files to that folder for safe keeping!

Can CaptainHook "hook me up" with the Fusion Titles settings from DR 15 / 16 for MAC please?
I would love the settings and the location to drop them in for MAC [Mojave 10.14.6 at this time]
Thanks sooooo much!

By popular request, here's a version of the above for Mac.

Note that much of the verbiage is related to getting the .setting files from the Resolve 16 Mac version. You can ignore all that, as I'll also attach a zip file with all 44 .setting files. capthook's zip only has half the files.

The .setting files are the same for Mac and Windows. So you can use the files in either zip on either platform.

So with a Resolve 16 install, get the desired .setting files from this folder.

Thank You Dwaine.

I had been meaning to investigate this issue earlier but as usual I got distracted.

My new M1 iMac arrived recently and I have been doing "intensive research", (actually I have just been enjoying it and messing around with all the various options).

Anyhow, I followed your instructions and used the zip file and everything is great, all the old titles and all the new 17 versions as well! Now it time to get some serious editing done.

Thanks Leslie
