There is a separate downloadable installer for Davinci Resolve Studio.
On first startup, it will ask you for your activation key.

I have exactly the same problem using version 17 and I cannot afford to lose any videos currently in the program. If I reinstall the correct version, am I going to lose these videos? How can I save them safely while I do that? So once I open the correct version program, I can resume working on them?

I've never lost anything by uninstalling one version and installing another as the database is stored separately. For peace of mind export a copy of your database first using the backup command, and a .drp file using by right clicking on a project in the Project Manager and clicking Export Project for each one.

Once you install the correct version you should be able to carry on working.
This is my Project Manager in 17.2.2 Studio. All the projects were created in the free version and remained there after the upgrade to the Studio version.

Thank you so much for this. It's very super helpful. I will install the correct version when ready. Is there a risk in continuing with the wrong version? Just to be safe.

The only problem you might come up against is if you want to use a feature that is only available in the Studio version.
