aaf from Avid to Resolve

PostTue Dec 08, 2020 1:37 pm

I'm having problems to import an aaf export from Avid to Resolve: allthough the filenames are corrected, they get listed as "not found", maybe because the aaf from Avid indicates "reel names" of the original tape names.

Any ideas who to tackle this issue? How could I verifiy what is actually written in the aaf file? Opening with a text editor doesn't seem to be possible.

AAF is binary. You can't read it in a text editor.

There are options in the project settings that determine criteria used for conform matching.

Do you mean the option to "Assist using reel names"? This was already unchecked.

"Limit reel name matching" to zero characters doesn't seem to be possible.

The problem was that I had exported files to a folder, not to the media drive. Then, I had to transcode audio to PCM, otherwise it would get exported as OMF, independently of the media creation settings.

The media files do now get imported corretly into Resolve, and have the audio linked to the video.

However, in the timeline, only the audio clips get imported, not the video.
