DaVinci Resolve 17 beta crashes without error message

PostTue Dec 08, 2020 3:45 pm

Hi,

I just installed the DaVinci Resolve 17 beta for Windows version. Unfortunately, when I open the program, I can only open an old project (I had DaVinci Resolve 16 before) or start a new project.
As soon as I have made the preselection and get to the right workspace in DaVinci, I see the interface very briefly and then the program unfortunately closes automatically. The crash happens directly - without error message :-(

I have no chance to do anything in DaVinci.

Does anyone have a tip for me what I can do? I would like to work with DaVinci.

Many thanks in advance

The FAQs in the top of the DaVinci forum offer advise on info you can provide, full system info as a start, and also how to grab logs and a NFO and how to post them here.

Dear Peter,

Installed Resolve 17 Studio beta 6. Had already crashes in beta 5. Installed on my new laptop, ACER SF 514, Intel 1165G7, Iris Xe GPU, 16GB, W10home.
Crashes in more demanding tasks, eg. shot match of two clips (log files included). No message or warning al all. Fully understable that my system is not powerful enough for these tasks, but crashes are annoying, as all work done in that session is lost. Can this be avoided? Desktop computer works normally.

Second question: I found that in Resolve is extremely slow (much slower than on my desktop) in producing the clips on the screen, especially at start up, compared to my desktop system. Processor, disk and GPU demand is low, like 25% max., both in laptop and desktop. Memory problem? Desktop also has 16GB but 1150ti 4GB GPU memory.

Is there an explanation and solution for this?

Thanks in advance, Tamis

An Intel Iris GPU is very limiting for Resolve.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2
SE, USM G3
