Transcoding clips

In previous versions from v17 clips could be selected to be transcoded - individual ones or multiple ones. Making that selection now does not work. The only why to transcode in v17 is to place the media to be transcoded on the timeline. Then transcoding is possible. Not a very useful method. Glad I still have Adobe Media Encoder. It will let me select a group of clips to transcode.

Since you can set them to full resolution and a good mezzanine codec 'Generate Proxy Media' should help.

Could you expand on your use case? Are you simply using Resolve to transcode files for other uses, or do you want to transcode incoming clips for use in Resolve -- in which case rendering proxies from the Media page is possible and you can select multiple clips. They'll all transcode to what you've selected as your proxy setting, so it's not like you can quickly transcode to many different outputs as you might want to do if you're using Resolve just to transcode.

(Remember that proxies in v17 are quite different from timeline proxy mode from v16.)

So use case matters a lot as to the answer.
