Frustration with V17 and v16

I have installed DR 17 Beta on a Windows 10,i7,32GB Dell XPS 9570 - It was running premiere and encoding decoding exporting etc video from my drones and Canon r6 without issue. I wanted to reduce costs so thought I'd try resolve.

With my standard H264 Footage from a Canon GX10 (4K 100mbps) it has no issues, but when importing DJI Mavic 2 footage at H265 (2K) it just says Media Off-line and big red thumbnail. I cannot Transcode it to H264 either. I have the HEVC loaded and its works as I can play the clips in windows and I can also edit them using another free editor FreeShot without any issues.

I downgraded DR to 16 and the same error. Is DR unable to cope with modern codecs? Should I go back to Premiere, which would be a shame?

You need the Studio version for that media.

Hey man if you're using DR V16 still, you do NOT need to buy the studio version. You need to install the MS HEVC codec. There was a link to a free version but a few months ago it was change to being behind an OEM code. MS Still has a codec pack in the WINDOWS 10 store. It's only $1.

I came here looking to see why it doesn't work with DR V17 as a bunch of people have been asking me based on my video explaining codecs and media offline.

Link to the video for DR16 & HEVC:

I can't find anywhere (I might just need more coffee) where it says HEVC is a Studio only thing, other than people commenting (seems more opinion than fact). If you guys know where BM posted it as a Studio only option, can you please link to it? It's legit the info I'm looking for to put in one of my upcoming videos to help people with this issue.

Just a followup to the previous post. I tested the MS HEVC codec with Resolve v17. It works. For those who it isn't working for, its not the codec. It might be older hardware, corrupt install, etc... but I can personally affirm that Resolve 17 FREE version can edit HEVC videos with a $1 codec.
