resolve 16 - crashes after edits, Must reboot to restart

PostWed Dec 16, 2020 1:53 am

I am new user. After editing a while Resolve crashes. I have to reboot each time.

I am on Lenovo W530 about 5 years old. Config is:
Intel Core i7 (3rd Gen) 3720QM / 2.6 GHz
NVIDIA Quadro K2000M / Intel HD Graphics 4000 built in
16 gb ram
C: 512gb SSD Windows 10 latest version.
D: 1 T SSD

Task manager shows about 20% cpu usage, NVIDIA is showing activity 4% - 16%

I have learned to save frequently and I auto save every 5 minutes

Any help or info would be appreciated. I almost can live with the crash, but not the reboot. I am thinking some flag is getting set that stops the restart. Reset??

Mine just froze up too. It happened during an autosave when I was sending play speed commands to preview. I think autosave timing bugs remain, though not sure if it is your issue.

Reducing the frequency of autosave will reduce the risk, but not eliminate it as I just found out. Just lost a ton of edited markers

My solution would be a new desktop using a 10th gen Intel and 3000 series RTX card.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

He's not joking.

But I'd try with Resolve 15.3.1 (still available when scrolling down in the support section) and keep your timeline at 720p with not too many nodes.
Might work.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

When it happens, open Windows Task manager, and kill Resolve process:

resolve post.png (14.12 KiB) Viewed 450 times

Then open Resolve again.

This will avoid the need to reboot.
