Today I bought BMPCC 6k with some cine lenses. I haven't yet started exploring it. In fact, I would like to know which Davinci Resolve bundled. Davinci Resolve 16 Studio or the Free version? How can I upgrade it to the latest version 17?

The camera comes with a Studio license in the form of an Activation code. That code will work in any version of Resolve.

If you're just playing around, give the 17 beta a try. It's got a lot of nice improvements over the current stable for 16.

One note of caution: 16 and 17 use different databases, and they aren't interchangeable. So if you start a real project in 17 and have issues, you can't downgrade to 16 stable to continue working.

Do you mean first I download Version 17 (free) and use the activation code? Will that enable the Studio features itself, or will I have to download them additionally? I got version 16 with my camera, and I believe that will work in 17 as well.

So what will happen to the current database, which is the SQL Server? Does version 17 database structure is different or the database itself that I will have to install?

The activation key works on all Studio versions but u need to install the Studio software which is different to the free version.

All software is on the support Web site

Before u upgrade, back up your databases, then restore them. Use the restored version to upgrade to v17 database
