Speed Editor DOA

I've received my Speed Editor today and I'm reasonably sure it's dead on arrival. It's not recognised by Windows 10 (I've tried 10+ usb cables, a->c, c->c, different ports, computers). None of the LEDs illuminate, and connecting to a linux machine and watching the USB bus doesn't show any activity.
When plugging it into a usb charger with a power monitor I see it drawing 0.48 amps which suggests it is charging its internal battery but it still doesn't work / get recognised after charging it for an hour.
Have I just been really unlucky or am I missing something? Is there a special way to put it into bluetooth mode so I can check if the usb connection is the problem?
I've contacted Thomann (who I purchased the licence + speed editor bundle from) but they've told me they can't replace it until after Feb 2021 which is very frustrating. Anything else I can try or am I just going to have to wait 3+ months for a replacement?

The LEDs will not illuminate until you launch Resolve with the keyboard connected. You should get the Windows chime when you connect a USB cable though. The easiest way to test the unit is to plug in a cable, start Resolve, open a project and see if spinning the jog wheel moves the playhead on the cut or edit page. I don't think it draws a lot of power while charging as I have had mine on a 60W charger for several hours and it is at 33%. I was able to connect it via the Windows bluetooth settings page at 9% charge and it also worked fine in Resolve. If the above test does not work, it sounds likely that you have a bad unit. It wouldn't hurt to leave it on your charger overnight though just to make sure you are testing with it topped off.

With it connected with a USB cable, open Windows Device Manager.
If the DaVinci Resolve Control Panel app is installed, you should see the Speed Editor appear in the "Sound, Video and Game Controllers" area of Device Manager.
If the control panel app is not installed, you should still see the Speed Editor in the "Other Devices" area.
If you don't see the Speed Editor in Device Manager, it's either an incorrect cable, or bad USB port or bad Speed Editor. Make sure you try multiple USB ports. If you are plugging it into a USB hub, plug it directly into a USB port on the computer.

Thanks for all the suggestions, I've gone back through everything but no luck.
Resolve 17 Build 5
Tested USB2 + USB3 A ports on back of my PC with 5 different cables (I've also tried the A-C and C-C cables I normally use with my ATEM Mini without issue). Also tested USB C-C using motherboard port and graphics card port, with multiple c-c cables.
"DaVinci Control Panels" is installed (was updated in 17 build 5) and shows "No DaVinci control panels found".
In Resolve under Preferences -> Control Panels I don't see the speed editor listed (which I have seen as a battery status section in screenshots)
Windows doesn't recognise a device at all when plugging it in (but it's definitely able to charge based on the current it's pulling). Device manager has no unknown devices and "Speed Editor" is not present in "Sound, video and game controllers" or "Other devices". Windows USB Device Viewer from the Windows 10 SDK doesn't recognise any device connected either.
Searching for the bluetooth device doesn't show up anything regardless of whether a usb cable is connected. Do I have to press a key combination to enable bluetooth mode?

Sorry to hear that. You do not need to do anything to enable bluetooth. As long as the device is not connected to anything else it will stay in discovery mode. It will also automatically reconnect to a paired device if it becomes disconnected.

Then it sounds like you should contact your local BMD support office for an RMA.
