Have you seen any difference between a 4K timeline -- even just a piece of your timeline as a test -- that's Delivered at 1080 versus a 1080 timeline (that has underlying 4K video) that's Delivered at 1080? I'm pretty sure that Resolve doesn't downsize your 4K prematurely in the timeline. (Of course, you can mess up things in Fusion and cause premature downsizing -- you can do anything in Fusion -- but I doubt you did that. And if you did, I don't think a 4K timeline will fix that.) I could be wrong, of course.
Or are you thinking of the Youtube trick of creating a 1080 timeline, but upscaling to 4K at Delivery -- even though using 1080 material -- which looks better because Youtube allows higher bandwidth for 4K than for HD.
