Possible to do Fusion comp without anything in Resolve timel

PostThu Dec 17, 2020 3:20 pm

Hi guys as the title suggests.

In V16, I cant add anything into Fusion, no loaders, or media or anything, unless there's already something in the edit tabs's timeline

Create a Fusion Comp in a Bin and work on that.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.

In 17b5 I'm able to go straight to the Fusion tab in a new project and start adding nodes, title templates, etc. I haven't tried doing anything more than that though; I have no idea what'd happen if I tried to save, as it's not working with a composition at that stage (unless one is created by default?).

Drag Fusion Comp from effects and that's an empty Fusion Comp. (I think that existed in v16, it definitely does in v17)

Ah I didnt know I can do that in V16, great thanks!

In the EDIT tab, I'm right clicking the Fusions Comp that I dragged from effects into the timeline, then right clicking on it, and change clip duration

But now on that, in 16, I cant type in the clip duration in frame numbers, only in time.
I need 4400 frames for example but no way of typing that in. Can I type it in V17?

Yes, you can specify the duration using a frame count in Change Clip Duration in v17b5.
