Can't Apply Effects to Audio Clips

I swear I must be missing something obvious, but I read through the manual and I'm still lost, and now I'm wondering if it's something to do with the beta. I'm trying to apply audio effects (built in or vst) to clips and it won't let me. I drag the effect on to the clip (as the manual says) and the window for the effect opens up. So far so good. The effect window doesn't seem to know it's on a clip though and has no effect on the audio. Then when I close the effect window it clearly never applied to the clip because the clip does not have the little icon showing there's an effect and in the inspector window the effects tab is greyed out. What could I be missing?

Suggest including your system spec in your signature.
From your other thread:
Resolve Studio 17 beta 3 on a 2019 16" Macbook Pro on Mac OS 11.0.1
does the behaviour change with beta 5? Have your tried Brusfri in AU format?
No issues with applying Clip-based plugins including Brusfri on macOS.

Sorry about that.
Just upgraded to beta 5 and it's the same. Same behavior with the AU version. Is there something that would block audio clips from having effects? Is the effects tab in the inspector greyed out because there are no effects applied or is that signifying an issue as well?

Are you able to link to the Project without media?

From Resolve's Project Manager, right click the Project thumbnail and select "Export Project" and link to the .drp file.

Tested several Fairlight AFX, AU and VST plugins on a few random Clips in the Project and effects apply correctly.
Clips indicate an "FX" icon and the plugins are editable in the Inspector and plugins are recalled correctly between application restarts.
I am not able to determine if Klevgrand have qualified their plugins with macOS 11.0 specifically, but no issues with these on macOS 10.15.7.
The Fairlight AFX are also preventing drag-drop application to a Clip?
And Track-based effects behave correctly?

Here's a screen recording of the behavior. Brusfri is just one example of many I've tried of various types. It works fine in other apps.

The Inspector indicates multiple Clips are part of the selection.
Deselect the Clip on A1 and apply Brusfri to the single Clip on A2.

Oh man. I knew it had to be something like that. That was the problem.
One last issue, though. It won't let me select a single clip in the Fairlight page. The only way I could get it to work was to go to the edit page and unlink the clips. I really would prefer not to have to unlink everything in my timeline, though. Is there another way to do this?

The Fairlight toolbar provides a Link button that allows overriding Linked Clips temporarily.
