I filmed 4K DCI and edited HD 1080 x 1920.
The clips I zoomed in on lost their DCI aspect ratio, how to best conceal the edges?

I'm not a 100% sure what you mean by conceal, but i guess you mean the black bars at the top and bottom.
i would suggest to just change your project resolution to 1920x1012 to get the same aspect ratio as your 4k dci footage (1.9:1).
if this ain't an option you could change the clip scaling in your project settings. i believe the standard setting is crop to fit and the right setting for you should be fill to fit.

I'm also unclear about what you're trying to achieve.
Is it correct that you're editing in a vertical frame?

Zoom in a little bit where necessary. Or ask if you can ship it with small letterbox borders. Make your decision consistent.

Seems a 2K DCI timeline would be the first choice, the aspect ratio doesn't have to be wrong.
If 1920X1080 is mandated then add the letterbox with output blanking.
Good Luck
