Videos do not work on iPhone.

lately all the videos I export don't run on iPhone XS. My videos are always the same codec. I export mp4, or QuickTime, with the "YouTube tab" or with the "custom settings" tab (h264, quality restrict 3500). On I phone works only the audio, the video is not working or is very lagging. I also noticed that these videos (that I upload on my socials using the browser, due to the fact that I cannot watch it on iPhone because as I said they don't work on mobile) randomly don't run properly in the social media. They are like damaged: the audio of those videos in the social media stop working for couple of seconds. Apple support says is Davinci problem.

Use h.265 or encode to h.264 in an external app like Handbrake from a mezzanine master.

I appreciate your answer. I don't want to use an external app because it makes my workflow slower and the resolution is lower.
I don't want to use h.265 because social media don't recommend that.

Why should external encoding reduce the resolution? The encoding with x264 might even be better.

You tell me to use an external app to change the codec of my videos: I don’t want to use an external app first because it makes slower my workflow, second I saw a small decrease of the resolution. I want to be able to watch my videos also on my smartphone.

So, you may have to wait until BM and Apple fix it. I just tried to point out a workaround.

Thanks. There is some way I can also write to BM and inform them about this?

Try it with the beta version of 17. If that fails too, write about it in the subforum for 17 (see above).
They'll definitely follow that one.

Thanks but I already tried with the beta of 17 and it didn’t work.

So? Did you post in the subforum to make them aware?

I am having the same issue. The videos work fine on my iMac but don't display correctly on any of my other devices.....I just get the odd still image with blank space and the music in the background.
All very frustrating as it didn't used to happen before.

I am sorry.
I added a new topic in the Davinci Resolve 17. The title is "Videos don’t run on iPhone". I hope someone will help us...

This just started happening to me too. Most recent change is upgrade to Big Sur. The videos will play fine on MBP, but after AirDrop (or iCloud transfer), video on iPhone will play one frame every 4-5 seconds with audio playing fine underneath.
I AirDropped previously created files to phone, and they work fine. The H.265 workaround works for me (for now).
