Hey All, after a few weeks with Resolve Beta 17 - I am in! So now a new computer. Mac guy. Here is what I am thinking:
3.8GHz 8-core 10th-generation Intel Core i7 processor, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz
32GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 16GB of GDDR6 memory
1TB SSD storage
Gigabit Ethernet

Most of my work is HD, occasional 4K, Multicam jobs. Just want to have enough juice for smooth operation.

I'd opt for an Nvidia card... there seem to be fewer issues than with AMD ones.

That should be a reasonable option. I have an 8-core MacBook Pro with 64GB of RAM and 8GB of VRAM and it works well. You have a less RAM -- but it should be enough -- and more VRAM. Not familiar with your GPU option, but the 16GB of VRAM will be much appreciated by Resolve.

I wouldn't invest that much anymore for an Intel Mac if you can wait. Apple will make the switch and the summer may already bring pretty strong M1 machines.

Unfortunately that is the best card they offer in the 27 inch iMac. I appreciate the feedback. It's already over my 3k budget!

I'm not referring to the card, but to the whole computer. It may even become cheaper for the same or better performance.

If it's about money, get a PC. But Apple might finally become competitive again for price/performance ratio.

Thats some good advice...Just need a few bandaids on my 6 yr old machine to get through to the summer.

Where are your bottlenecks now?
