Out of GPU memory with very simple Fusion comps

PostFri Dec 18, 2020 2:58 am

I've seen a few times now where playback will just stop working. The playback button will turn red, but the playhead will not move. This time I took a look at the Resolve logs, and see that Cuda is reporting out-of-memory. No surprise that it's stopped working!

However, this is happening in an empty project with only 2 bare-bones Fusion comps, after Resolve has been running for only 25 minutes... I would not expect such a simple scenario to run out of memory so fast.

The comps:
  1. A text node swinging back & forth for a couple of seconds. Nothing else.
  2. Two background nodes with circular masks that animate (one ping-ponging, one looping) for a few seconds. Nothing else.
