Dell xps 15 lagging on Davinci Resolve

PostFri Dec 18, 2020 3:52 pm

Hello everyone. This is my first post in the forum. I recently bought a Dell xps 15 intel core i7-10750h @ 2.60ghz, 32 gb DDR4 ram, nvidia geforce gtx 1650 ti, 1gb ssd. When i try to edit in davinci resolve is always lagging when I try to play videos in the timeline. I don't know if it is a configuration problem or my computer is not able to handle 4k editing, I am trying to edit 4k videos by the way , it is really frustrating, I would really appreciate some help with this. Thanks a lot in advance.

That GPU is hardly capable of 4K.
But if you convert your sources to DNxHD/HR or Cineform (or buy the Studio version), you should be OK for HD.
My disaster protection: export a .drp file to a physically separated storage regularly.

Studio 19.1.3
MacOS 13.7.4, 2017 iMac, 32 GB, Radeon Pro 580 + eGPU
MacBook M1 Pro, 16 GPU cores, 32 GB RAM, MacOS 14.7.2
SE, USM G3

Does the Studio version improve processing?

If your sources are H.264 or H.265, yes.
But check the Nvidia information if that GPU supports the specific flavors of your camera(s).
